• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Safety Card

The safety card message on my new RT is annoying me. It has been so long since I have had a new Spyder (05-15-09) that I have forgotten how to get rid of the annoying message. As I recall, I was able to do something on my previous Spyders to prevent the safety card message from appearing.

Please tell me what I have forgotten.

Just don't pull the safety card out, even if you get the urge.:D

I'm guessing that with a little heat you could peel that sucker off and put something a bit more appropriate in its place...

I think you're talking about the electronic message that appears on screen and must be cleared before you can start the RT? Yeah...it's pretty annoying, but I don't know if there is anything you can do about it.

Took mine off with the Wife's hairdryer' Had to sneak it down to the garage.
For some strange reason Woman don't like their hairdryer used in a Mans garage.??
Go figure.:dontknow:

Walt, I agree with you 100%... it is a pain in the Arce to have to continue to press the mode button and the long long long wait to start the engine.
It would be great, if immediately completing th diag function it would allow you to start the engine. Now if it sits overnight I don't mind the long wait and the read card function, but not all day when I ride and turn it off for more than 5 minutes... for fuel, etc...
When you find out the solution, or I, please share..thanks

have a great ride, and I hear that Justin is working at CPS.. Have not met him but have heard good things from some of the CPS peeps I know.

That would be a nice compromise..... only having to deal with it after several hours instead of each time you start it.

Pushing the "mode" switch is a fair swap for the money I've made from fellow bikers on bets (bet you a buck you can't start this thing…..) :D

For the 9 seconds it takes from turn on to start, I have filled that time with many things.
Like putting on my helmet or gloves, or taking a piece of gum from center console and placing in mouth. Or even reading the safety card, but that takes at least 25 seconds.:D

So please don't take away my nine seconds! ;)

:agree: It takes me at least that long to remember where I was going or what I had to do when I got there anyway! :roflblack:

I found this on eBay! Many more to choose from.

Does it match the same contour of the safety card? I was looking at these, but if it didnt cover the current safety card sticker then I didnt want it. Or did you remove your stock sticker first?

To those who have removed it, is it one of those "comes off in little bits" type stickers that takes like 4 days to remove? Thanks

Helloooooo???? ......I'm not sure about the RT, but on my GS, as soon as the message STARTS scrolling I hit the mode button and I'm good to go. There's no need to wait for the message to finish...it only takes about 3 seconds total including the gauge sweep.:f_spider:

The new one is a sticker. The old one came off in one piece.

Good question. I think that the RT has a lot more computer stuff to do before it's ready to start piling on the mils and smiles... Somewhere I recall reading that there's about 10 times the computer code to sift through...

On the RT you have to wait. The issue is the RS has 4,000 lines of code and the RT has 400,000 lines of code. The RT takes a little longer to do it's check before it lets you hit the button. I will say it is much better now than it was for the preproduction units. :doorag:
