Motad exhaust for RS

Gimpy Girl

New member
Does any one have a Motad exhaust on their RS? Trying to figure the best bang for the $ with an aftemarket pipe, and saw this on Ebay. I'm torn between this, the HMF & Two Bros single pipe.
I'd love the 2 Bro's dual pipe, but that's out my budget so no can do.
If you have any of these pipes, can you tell me how you like it, the sound and does it give the RS a little more boost at all?
Thanks in advance all!

You know me gimpy two bro pipe all the way.Did you see the new two bro "black series" single can its new and not many people have it yet might be something to check out.Saw on e bay for spyder take a look.

did they fix the fact that their single would not hold up to the spyder's engine?

All the stuff I have had from them is sub part at best.

I do know their double exhausts hold up and they wanted me to just buy another one when their first one went to **** on me.

Had my dual can two bro pipe for about 8 months not a single problem and love the sound of the spyder with it. :2thumbs:

I love the sound of your dual pipes Storm! Not to worry, I'll beg you to take time out of a weekend to do some install work for the goodies I'm getting for my scoot

That's by far the best looking pipe I've seen so far, IMO. It's a simple, sleek design. I have the stocker; my gf doesn't want anything louder. But, if I were to get another pipe (not gf), it would be that one.

I had the single can Two Brother Titanium on our RT and looooooooooooooooooved it.

For our new RS-S Copper... Just mounted and tested the new Dual "Black" series in titanium this afternoon. All I can say is WOW. If I get 5 years of life out of it I will be ecstatic. Beautiful sound, fit and finish... We also purchased the "Tuner" kit and am very pleased with the looks of it so far. Plan to install that later on.

In stock form the Two Brothers dual is very "Chopper" like in sound. With the P-1 sound tip... more rumble but still loud. And the P1X (Drops db's about 7-8) is perfect for us. Just a tad louder than the single can TB pipe, but with a very nice throaty rumble...:ohyea::2thumbs:

Others have gone the Hindle route, but I would fight hard to get the HMF or TB single and look to the Hindle as a last resort IMHO...

how many miles did you have on your rt with the single? I got less than 2000 out of mine before it started to go to crap, also the smaller insert is made ONLY for dirt bikes and smaller CC motors. This info came from TB's after several back peddling statements about how the single they made was a mistake and you need a dual on a spyder.

To the OP.... OMG The Yoshimura looks damn nice!!!! (Link)

@ SethO... Way past 2000 miles... I certainly could have gotten lucky sure. But I have been running aftermarket exhaust for decades and only had one fail and it was from a company no longer in business.

The rest here is just info.....

Remember... Many aftermarket "Can" exhausts for motorcycles require replacement of the muffler internal packing every ten hours of "Race" use... and ruffly 120 hours for our type of use. And I can say that I only do it once a year (During the winter) and every single time the fiberglass packing is all but gone by then. This means the added heat and pressure works the can more and the sound volume is greater. Once the padding has been replaced the sound goes down again and the throttle needs a little more tugging on it :2thumbs::roflblack: Quote...

Description: We recommend inspecting your muffler after every 2-3 hours of operation for loose hardware just as you would on the rest of your motorcycle and repacking your MX or ATV muffler canister every 10 hours of operation. By doing this you will maximize the life of your Two Brothers Racing canister.
(Link) and HMF (Link) and Yosh is 7000 miles(Link)

One thing needs to be made clear. 90% of every aftermarket exhaust is made for off-road use only. Read the fine print. Even the HMF and Yosh (That I love the most BTW). I can also say there had been two versions of the "Cans"... One small the other larger. I had the larger.

In this state they can ticket us and force us to go back the the factory installed mufflers. This is one reason for my being very careful about the db's I produce. If we are mature/reasonably sounding they leave us alone. For example... There is only one aftermarket muffler that is approved for all lower 48 states for Chevy back in 2004 (Never researched again for an update) Corsa exhaust. To my very limited knowledge not one manufacturer that is building Non OEM spec exhaust for Motorcycles is lower 48 state legal. :chat::gaah:

I guess you did not see the pics of the yosh that came apart on me and that was the reason I started testing exhausts for ESI?
The spyder would be 8th bike, all my other bikes had aftermarket exhausts and they all say off road use only so they can get by emissions. NONE of my other exhausts were ever a problem, ever. All the other bikes were inline 4's so the pulse rate was less.
My major issue is that they made a exhaust that did not work and still sold the rest of them after they found this out which is bull**** to me. Most people don't drive their spyder like I do but it is a toned down version of the motor so even when you ride it they way I do it is no where near where the real redline of the motor is.

Again on a RT that is even slower than a rs that exhaust should hold up but if you push it on a rs it will go. I rebuild it, welded it and then gave it away to a guy who had someone completely change it. People that do have them may never have a problem with one but then again other people have had trouble with them and several people thought it was my bike, the moon, where I ride or the dragon I gave a ride to one time. The end result was it was a universal can that could not handle the pulse rate of a big twin.

here are my exhaust woes

No I did not see the Yosh issue you had... Man that is horrible... I Used to race with Yosh/ FMF/ Supertrapp/ and finally Motoworks... Lets just say that I have been in the dirt back when Mickie Thompson was just getting into the stadiums...

All I can say is the Yosh for me have always had a special place in my heart for their sound, and I never had one fail. But then again... I change my oil usually early in fear of going over, so I am always tuning and maintaining more than the avg Joe might. Heck even my yard equipment fire up on the first pull because I maintain them so well... :roflblack::shocked:

I certainly hope you are not taking my info as a reflection to your post. It was just general info... I have seen Exhausts from every camp not make it through one race, and it sounds more like they just through a can under the RS and never engineered it to the needs of the back-pressure the RS would produce.

And I bet you are right on the difference between the RT and RS has on an exhaust... I will in no way be ryding our RS like we did the RT. I bought the RS for "Ryding" not "Touring".

And I wholeheartedly agree that they failed to help you and others after you from what you describe... :(

So what are you running now?

no worries, just want to make sure that everyone on here has all the info they need to make a great choice in exhaust, I mean if we were all rich and money was no object my bike spyder would be WAY faster than it is.

I am running a leo vince which has held up better, it started to crack at the base 1 week after warranty, I did test a few other exhausts between using this, it was my standard to use.

My roommate is a machinist had to weld a ring around the 90 pipe to get to not seat as deep. Leo vince also tried to blame this on a deer hit I had last year on the other side front of the bike. I am glad I have a roommate that can help out. It was little louder than before the dragons tail and it looks horrible but I ride year round in the snow, ice and salt takes it toll on the look of things.

I own a Motad Venom Exhaust I've owned it for a bit over two years now and it still looks and works fantastic no complaints. It's got a nice throaty sound love it.

over 17000 on Motad

Same here. Have over 17000 miles on my Motad and it still works and sounds great. Check out ESI. Looks like they have a unit very similar to the Venom.

Humbly Correcting Myself

Whelp... Had to remove both feet from my mouth...

I just got off the phone with a nice fella by the name of John @ Two Brothers...

Long story short. You will notice that they have removed the "Single" can Carbon and Titanium pipes from the RS as an option to buy.

The went on to say that the all aluminum can is the best option for the longest life from any camp.

The other two are falling apart. Just like the Yosh and others that are using similar materials.

John said basically the pulse in the Rotax engine is to great for long term use and they do not want to sell/offer a product they can not fully stand behind.

From the sounds of it they say the Dual Exhaust is the perfect solution.

So there you have it. Really sucks I had to sell mine today. I only learned about this because of that. I called asking why I could not find the pipes they once had...

So for now I am going to put on a Hindle and see what happens in the next year as far as options that will come available...

Anyway.... Sorry for my information earlier becoming no longer valid, but I am man enough to come back and clear the air on the subject... :opps::doorag:

Hubby was :cus: about how loud my duel Two Bros are. :hun: We ride together all the time and he never mentioned Spydee being loud. Why now?

Thanks for answering the question. Have over 200 hours on the pipes. Maybe its time for a repack?

It does suck that they made a product that did not hold up, I wish it did, it was what I had on when I ran my best 1/4 mile time of 12.65. I just want a exhaust that does not come apart over time, first big twin engine was the spyder, can believe this is a issue.
