• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Fluid leak

My RT-S has sprung a leak. :cus:Clear greenish fluid beneath the chassis. Coolant? Brake fluid? Anyone else have this problem? Any resolution besides the trip to the dealer?:spyder:

Check all your clamps on the lines. If they are not the culprit, check the reservior bottle. I had one of the clamps break on mine, so I replaced it and refilled with 50/50 mix. Everything is good now! Others have had problems with the reservior bottle cracking. No need to go to the dealer if you can use basic hand tools.

Green is coolant. First thing to check is to see that the coolant cap was put on correctly. There are two stops. When the cap hits the first stop, it has to be pushed down, then turned further. If the dealer (or owner) neglects to do this, it can leak through the overflow when hot. Second thing to check is the clamps on the hoses. One is usually a worm drive clamp, which can be tightened. Others are Oetiker clamps, and can't be tightened much...plus require a special tool. There are other possibilities, including a cracked coolant tank, bad connector, or bad o-ring. This is a warranty issue, so the dealer can take care of it for you is you wish.

coolant leak

I got the coolant bottle exposed by removing the panel under the front storage area. bottle looks empty. I want to add coolant and run the engine to see if I can find the leak. How the heck to I get my hands on the coolant cover.:cus:

coolant leak

:cus:Leak is not around the overflow & fill tank or the top connection tubes. It leaks somewhere that drips out the bottom of the body pan. Seems serious:dontknow:

Short of discovering a loose hose clamp, the only way to truly find this kind of leak is to pressurize the system at operating temp. It is the same trouble shooting technique used on liquid cooled car engines. On a car if it was the radiator you could add "Silver Solder" to the radiator in an attempt to "plug the leak" but these bikes are likely still under warranty so I would have BRP fix it!

Sounds like a loose hose clamp in the engine compartment.

coolant leak

Trailered it down to Broward Power Sports in West Palm. They sell them, but the service tech who came out to get it didn't know how to start it. Confidence??

Were you able to backtrack from the point under the chassis upward to get an idea of exactly where it was dripping from? If you can find some residue anywhere in there and keep working the vertical drips or areas that it may have followed down to drip from, you should narrow the search down considerably. Good luck and please keep us posted!

Didn't know how to start it??  WoW!

Confirmed clamp leak leading into the radiator. Dealership fixed, filled, washed and detailed. Now if it ever warms up in Fl, i will be riding again; but still no dps replacement.

I was in your neck of the woods couple weeks ago. I drove from El Cajon to Campo, using Campo road. Was a beautiful drive even in a car. Cant wait to get my Spyder to California to ride that road again. Nice and twisty and beautiful views. I saw lots of bikes on the road. I assume you use this road to get to San Diego?

And I was in your neck of the woods on our trip in the summer of 2009 on our SE5. Crossed from Ontario into Michigan on our way to meet Scotty and some other riders.
