• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The big fight in my head is over. I was going to lose to many features I like on my wing going with the base model RT and didn't want to spend the extra cash for the other models. Decided to trike out my wing (Roadsmith). Kit should be here tomorrow. Gonna install it myself. Thanks for all the info, See ya.
 
You will have to keep us posted for sure. Is this going to be a winter project? Good luck with everything; that's gonna be intense to say the least!

I'm not a weekend and sunny day rider only. I sold my truck to help finance this project. I have a titanium wing and plan on doing a two tone paint job to blend in with the titanium. It's only going to be a winter project for as long as it takes to get it rode ready. Might have to ride without paint (gotta be at least 60 degrees to paint and I prefer 70 degrees. Here's a sample of what it might look like without a two tone paint job.

I hear ya big time about not being a fair weather rider and I respect that. That's gonna be great Sir! What do you feel the most difficult part of the conversion is going to be? Is there going to be any welding involved or anything like that?

No welding. It's a bolt together kit and all components are supplied with the kit. Carpet and trailer hitch are also included (Roadsmith). I plan on taking lots of pics and documenting the build so once this is done I'll be better able to answer questions.

my question is whst year is the gw and how much is the conversion going to cost , i also thought about this but would have been way to far upside down for a old wing so the cost of new spyder was far cheaper and have a new 2010 bike good luck on the project:ohyea::spyder2::spyder2::yes::yes:
 
Congratulations on your decision. It took us two years to decide. Then another 6-8 months to purchase. Luckily along the way the RT's rolled out.

Then we went to a Trike License/Training class. Let's just say that taking the three day class sealed the deal on NOT getting a traditional trike or building one.

Everyone has different skill sets and ryding environments that dictate their personal needs. Ours are all about defensive driving. Having the bigger front end allows for greater emergency control of the bike and visual "Bulk" for the cagers to see. That is why we chose the Spyder path... :thumbup:

I LOVE those GW trikes--but alas--I have an RTS and im not going to lose any more big money on trading up or changing rigs. Plus, Im very happy with my RTS.

For a brand new Goldwing conversion your looking at around $30,000.00 dollars to start. + options...:yikes: My Goldwing is an 06 and paid for so it ain't going to cost me near that. Doing the install myself and selling my truck I owe the piggy bank about $5000.00. Just about the same amount I would owe if I traded my wing for a base model RT.

I don't think you were ever gonna buy an RT, your too heavy into the goldwing thing, Your middle name is " need more input" I believe .

Now lets see the difference between the base RT and the full blown RTS is like $21,399 to $ 25,399 Thats 4k, You were gonna build your own trailer perhaps so that would have covered possibly the cost difference.

I also think you should give props to fencepost from SPYDERLOVERS forum for this too.

Well, if dude wants to trike out his wing, then so be it. I have done some looking around and a new conversion will run 32K plus - 25K for older models in OK condition.

For my money, I want the Y configuration. I reckon that's why I own a couple of Spyders! :roflblack: But that's just me and my taste, and I'm an RS guy. I like the sport/performance aspect of the experience. Oviously the man is attached to his wing and I still think that's going to be an interesting project. I do wonder if the gentleman has had the oppurtunity to ride an RT to see what it's like? At least then he could say he gave it a shot.

But the choice has been made, so I wish hime well with the project.

In spite of some guys getting a bit jumpy here... it is of course your money & your decision... I too, wish you well and I'd like to see some pics of the 'Wing when it's on three wheels.
Hey, we're all gonna be on three, so why get into an argument over where they need to be? :thumbup:
