• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Odd squeak when backing up

I have the same moan. I asked my dealer about it here is what i understand.. Now this is coming from a girl, when backing the belt slides and the moaning starts when it has moved over and rubs on the side.
I hate to argue with your dealer, and I suppose that may happen in some instances, but I believe your dealer is wrong. As proof, when I installed Tatt2r's brake pad return spring fix on Nancy's Spyder, the noise went away. I did nothing to the belt at that time. Sorry, I just don't buy it.

Okay - so... any thoughts on this "moaning issue" with the 2010 RT? It doesn't happen all the time on mine, haven't asked the service dept yet.

Had the same squeal in the rear brake. The dealer tried a couple of fixes that did not work and than replaced the rear pads with the Third Generation pads. I have not had a squeal since then.

The third generation pads did it for me also. I had been using the brake quiet gel and it would work for a while, but I kept having to reapply. The third gen have been great so far.

I did not have anywhere near as severe or frequent brake squeal with my RT as with Nancy's RS, so I did not do the return spring cure there. It has its drawbacks, which could be a problem on the RT. It causes a delay in the pads contacting the rotor, so there is a bit of play in the brake pedal unless you pump the brakes up. The brakes on the RT have a different leverage and are a lot weaker, so this could be enough to make the RT unsafe, IMO.

Clean brakes help prevent this, so application of CRC Brake Kleen and blowing things out with an air gun can help. Wet or humid pads do it more, so be sure and ride a while and use the brakes fairly hard after you wash the Spyder...before you put it away. Also be sure your parking brake is releasing completely. If all else fails, the 3rd gen pads or application of CRC Disc Brake Quiet to the back of the pads should make things better. The noise is caused when the pads catch the rotor slightly, and vibrate. Reversing direction causes enough play in the system components to allow them to do this more readily. That why you get the moan pushing or driving it backwards when you first start out.
