• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Idea for TSA

oops, I was about to post my opinion, and saw this starin me in the face......

"Off Topic Board Zero Tolerance- NO Political Post. Keep it clean and no personal attacks. Any profanity, sexual content or personal attacks or threats will be removed and the user may lose their privilege to use this site."

Borders on political, Ill pass.

Bottom line: If you do not want to comply, don't fly. You can walk, drive, bus, train, cab, etc. Safety is not for you, it's for anyone else wanting to fly safely.

So, if changing the Constitution takes a long time, are you suggesting we should just disregard it? These new security procedures are instituted by non-elected officials within the Homeland Security Administration (Janet Napalitano). Our elected Representatives and Senators have had no say in this, although I am in hopes they will take this on.

We would do well to consider the words of Benjamin Franklin:

"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

I served in the military to preserve what we have. So, please don't lecture me. If you don't want to fly, don't fly. I agree with what Dudley said.

If you feel it's worth changing the Constitution, get in touch with your Congressman/woman. I don't feel it is worth it in this case. I also could care less what Ben had to say since I don't believe he ever saw bodies blown apart.

I would like to see our airports have the security standards of Israel. AND there are no pending law suits in their courts about how strict they are. For them, if you don't want to be screened, don't fly.

Well hartford ct didnt have those scanners. Went through just fine. If they have them in tampa going home i will refuse them because i dont trust it health wise. Ill take the pat down after i gulp down a few drinks at the bar first.

Thank you for your service. I spent about seven years in the Air Force myself.

I am interested in our security for the ages, not just for the moment. If what the TSA is doing is illegal, either make it legal (change the Constitution) or find a legal way to accomplish the same goal. I'm less concerned which, as long as in the end it is legal.

Since the Revolutionary War was in full swing during his time, it is quite possible that Ben, in fact, did see bodies blown apart. If so, he likely saw it in his own country, not on foreign soil. His wisdom is well respected and is established. Maybe we shouldn't discarded it so easily.

Again, thank you for your service. You have my deepest gratitude.

Old BEN lived in Paris from about 1776 to 1785.
He might have missed some of the KIAs.
He was a Diplomat [one of the best i might add] not a Soldier.

I julst flew through Paris and was selected for pat down. No scanner option but the pat down was no big deal. Now if the Italians could just locate my husbands suitcase we would be pretty happy.

On an unrelated note, no Spyder sightings so far in Europe. Did visit an old friend of ours who is restoring old Boondockers - Hercules motorcycles - 2 stroke.

Wow, I started this thread as a kind of light way to look at the idiocy that the security people have come to. BUT.
I wonder how the searches would go if everybody showed up in thongs and bikinis.:sour:

That would pretty much take away all doubt and NO Muslims flying!!! You need to recommend flying naked to the TSA.:shemademe_smilie::shemademe_smilie::shemademe_smilie::shemademe_smilie::shemademe_smilie::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::ohyea::ohyea::ohyea::ohyea::ohyea::ohyea::ohyea:

One of the unfortunate things with airport security is that there are so many holes in it, and so many interpretations at different airports. A lot of the policies in effect today are the result of incidents that have already occured. The old " close the barn door after the horse got out" thing. last time I flew I went through the scanner, was held up by an agent and patted down. Seems I forgot to take a piece of paper out of my shirt pocket. These folks have a job to do with the muddled instructions that they are given, it's best just to play along and do what you're told. I have experienced some nasty agents but mostly polite agents. Pay attention to the instructions and things will go a lot smoother. By the way, I've showed my military retired ID card and have been asked to show a driver license instead, go figure. :dontknow:

I wonder if you went in wearing a bath robe and threw it off if they would still want to pat you down.at least you could moon them.:roflblack:But seriosly I would have no problem with the scanner

The amount of radiation received during the scans is the same as what you are exposed to during just 2 minutes of flying above 20,000 feet.

So you're already being exposed to hundreds of times of that radiation once you're in the air.

If people are really that worried about the radiation - they shouldn't be flying anyway due to the exposure you get once up in the air.
