• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT Top Rear Storage Shelf

SilverSurfer

RT-S PE#0391
I've seen pictures on the 2011 Spyder RT page, and am now seeing it written as an accessory for the RT: A manufactured 'shelf' for the top rear storage on the RT. However, the BRP/Spyder RT Accessories and Gear page shows nothing listed; also, no Spyder parts vendor seems to have one. BRP seems to be advance-hock'in something that really doesn't exist yet.

I've seen the guy who made one himself... nice ... but I want the manufactured part. Any leads?

None of the new accessories are shown online yet, they have merely been announced. BRP always announces them ahead of actual availability, much like the new models and colors of Spyders. In addition, they will be shown in the dealer accessory catalog before they show up in the parts system...and they will not all show up at once. Same thing goes for after they show up in the online catalog...actual availabilty may be delayed.

I don't think is is a crime, or a blot on BRP's record. It is nice to know ahead of time, and be able to look forward to the availability within the coming year. I think it would be sad if we had to be suddenly surprised by these things.

This shelf was originally designed and made by Inspector Gadget; RL, maybe you should have gotten a patent ;)

when I purchased the Semi Rigid rear top cargo travel bag it came with straps and a shelf that you
could attach to hold your cellphone and ipod on. I use the shelf all the time but decided not to affix
the straps and instead have it rest on my travel cover and my rain gear. Works great and keeps
the cargo bag at the correct height. Cargo bag has an opening zip where all my essentials go and
comes with a vanity mirror and zipper mesh pouch on the flap.

I used the straps and the shelf. its good piece of mind to attach the straps and it keeps stuff packed down under the shelf.

it takes 5 mins to install the two ends... just remove and reinstall 2 bolts with the strap supports and done :)

i like the shelf with the support strap under it connected when not using the top case for sticking stuff on and I dont have the bottom filled.

there is a video of the shelf someplace online in a quick review of the shelf and topcase ...

ah yes you are right, this is the video that ken5517 from WestCoastSpyder made and
posted on spydertalk back in April. Says it takes 20 min. to install, for me it would take a weekend:D
Maybe thats what i will do next time it rains.

Alcoa Good Times had one when we were there for the rally. The cost was near $50 so I passed on it.
Email Jill at [email protected] and see if she still has any on hand.
