• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Aftermarket brake rod?

Does anybody make an adjustable length brake-actuating rod for these bikes? Or would that screw up some sort of hidden sensor and trigger the ejector seat? The reason that I'm wondering about this is because of the ISCI floorboards that I'm in the middle of installing. It'd be nice to be able to set the brake pedal height to wherever I want it... particularly with the height adjustability that's built into these boards.

Bob, looking at the diagram in the manual it appears that the input arms on the bellcrank and the pedal are parallel to one and another. Changing the length of the connecting rod will change the angular relationship of these two arms, and may affect the braking process/forces.

To do it right, you would not only need a different length rod, but also multiple attach points on the brake pedal. A lot will depend on how much you need to rotate the pedal. If only a few degrees, you may get by with an adjustable rod.
 
Dave so what you are saying is someone would have to build aftermarket brake lever instead but it would prob be fixed. like the Harley makes and extended stretch brake pedal so as to keep the geometry still the same.

Short answer, yes.
Ideally, you would like to keep the angular relationship between the bell crank arm, and the brake pedal arm the same as BRP designed it. A small change probable won't change the braking characteristics, but a larger angular change may.
Shortening the stock rod will lower the pedal and require more pedal travel to accomplish the same travel at the bell crank. You could also run out of pedal throw before proper motion was reached at the master cylinder.
 
(Realizing that I'm about the least mechanically apt human here... :shocked:) Are we sure that there is a relationship between those two rods? There aren't any sensors on the brake pedal liinkage, but I didn't look up at the bellcrank to see what surprises they hid up there... The pedal just sort of falls out of the frame once you unbolt enough stuff from it too, so nothing there either...

When I was much younger I used to put wooden blocks on my trike-pedals so I could reach them(actually my dad did). I think a wooden block would work in your case too.:roflblack::roflblack: (sorry, I couldn't help myself).
