Hey guys, I am in the same boat waiting for a new 11 model. I have ordered mine and am just waiting. The 26000 isn't chump change, but I looked at a new Victory Vision, starting at 23999, or a new BMW LT starting at 21700 both are bare bones for those models, and of course the latest Goldwing at 22899. If you look at the intro model for the Spyder it is only 21399 which is in line with the other intro or as I call them bare bones models. I agree, it is a big jump up from a Shadow or a VTX. Since 2000 I have owned 3 GW 1800's and a Victory Vision, so the sticker is not as much as a shock to me. The concern about being left along the road is more of a concern but hopefully I will have the same good luck as I did with the two wheelers.
I have noticed that from reading almost everything here, that aside from real problems like the clutch recall, dps recall, some of the oil in gearbox, and of course the fires, a lot of the problems were cause by doing mods where a wire grounded and such.
With my Wings, I never really had problems, but was involved in the first two models, 01 and 04. in the frame recall issue. There is also a list of service bulletins on the Wing just like on the Spyder. I hate to say it but the Vision gave me the least problems. On one of our last trips we were talking about that and I mentioned that I had been lucky with the Vision, and a friend of mine said, it wasn't luck, but good old American engineering. Might be something to that. Any way... I hope this helps put the price tag into perspective...
Edit... I only mentioned RT prices and not RS prices since Olddog mentioned the RTS.... Sorry...

I agree with Willy here! I am also a newbie, but a real bike newbie at that! I like to look at motorcycles but the idea of riding in 2 wheels on such high speeds and in more weight than a regular bycicle scares me. Untill I saw the :spyder:. What a beautiful machine! And going back to what Willy mentioned, some bikes are expensive for what they have to offer, the Spyder RT gives more bang for the buck, in my opinion. I've also been looking into trykes and even used ones are as expensive as the RT's!
Anyway, just thought I'd post my first message. I plan to buy a :spyder2: at some point... the difficult part was to convince the wife that I want one, now to clean the garage and make room for it. Anybody got any tips for a future bike rider? Thanks!:2excited:
