• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. intercom system for rts

G;day everybody, its me again with yet another question. I currently have a bluetooth headset for answering the phone or talking to the wife. My question is, is it worth buying the headsets from Can Am, can you listen to music through them, can you answer the phone through them?

I elected not to. We use a Starcom1 system. It will do the intercom, GPS, MP3, and phone...although we seldom use all of those. Lots of people don't like the wired systems, but for us they work great, and we have the same on Nancy's Spyder and my BMW R1100RT.

On my Bluetooth headset I can pair with my iphone plugged into the RT and have everything you're wanting to do.

Wondering the same

I have been pondering the same question. Is the Can-Am brand of intercom set-up for communication, gps, and music as good as others? What about the helmets and riding gear?:helpsmilie:

I have the Can-am CB/comm set with the wired ST-1 helmets. The music and intercom are very clear and the helmets are comfortable. However, you cannot answer the phone and I dont own a GPS so I cant answer that question.

Scotty,
What frequency does your system work on. We have a chatterbox which works on the FRS frequencies, but no one else has one so our bike to bike is usless. All of the other features work well and ours too is corded which I like.

The Starcom1 is wired, so it doesn't have a frequency. We have tried the FRS/GMRS radios bike-to-bike, but they are only so-so, and are a pain.

I tried the Starcom 1 system. I just couldn't get it to work. Too much interference, I got a lot of noise, and the CB just transmitted garbled signals.

Others seem to get them to work well, but not me.

I elected to go with the OEM BRP CB/Intecom system. I'm veery pleased. It seamlessly integrates with all of the other systems so I can use teh control pod on the left handlebar for all of the functions.

The only downside is the cost, and I can't get the cell phone to integrate into the system.

As I said, others have gotten the Starcom system to work for them. I just couldn't, so I switched and I'm happy I did.

went with wired. after riding for 3 years on a harley and owning one of the first bluetooth headsets riding the previous 3 years on a sportsbike.

I also had the NADA system which was on FRS frequency... CB is just more universal. if we ride with Harleys it works great even when we were about 1/2 mile in front when we had to duck under a bridge in a super heavy downpour ...

plus the biggest thing after years of riding is not have to worry did I charge the headset and will the headset battery last the entire 5 or 6 hrs that we are riding that day on our longer trips or weekend trips...

just plug in and go :2thumbs: ... for phone I rather just pull over and check phone at gas stops. at 175 miles per tank stop its not that long to have to have a connection to my phone when driving. like others have done you can just use an ear bud and keep phone in jacket front inside pocket if really need to be connected. only thing I need the phone is if I had to call road side service or to maybe do a quick call ahead to a hotel for availability all can be done at gas stop.

the ability for everything on the screen CB, Radio, Intercom, or MP3 in rear trunk is super nice and clean.

We tried the cardo system G4 and just never could get it work for driver-passenger intercom. Given all the good reviews that unit has received makes me think we got defective units. Anyway, changed to Starcom (not the new digital model) and found it took all of about 20 minutes to hook it up to my fuseblock, run the helmet wires and run a lead to the GPS. Works great!
