• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

oil consumption

My dealer has been using full synthetic in my RTS-SE5 and I am adding about 1.25 liters between 5000 km oil changes. The manual calls for semi-synthetic. I was wondering if anyone using the semi can tell me how much oil they are consuming. I was hoping the thicker oil would stop some of the blow by and lessen consumption.

I had to add about 1/2 quart of oil at 2000 miles after the last change. I'm going in this week to have it done again and am changing to Royal Purple 10w40. I used it in my GS and it worked well, without having to add between changes.

Where are you loosing oil ? Airbox, overflow, crankcase vent:dontknow:

I ask this question for the RT not the RS.

I really don't know. I was assuming that these engines blow some oil past the pistons and out through the exhaust.
Not likely. It is usually blow by to the airbox. If this is the case, make sure you check the oil level properly. It needs to be at full operating temperature, not just three bars on the water temp gauge. Best checked after a ride...strictly following the procedure in the book. The Spyder does not like the level too high. I suggest halfway to the full mark, but just make sure it is no above full, when hot. If all else fails there are some solutions here in past threads.

is not the recommended viscosity 5W40 not 10W40?

Hi Scotty

Is the oil in the airbox a problem on the RTS . Same as the RS ?

Mine has been dry, except for a light fog near the hose. That wasn't even enough to drip down into the box.
