• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I just got my 12v adapter for the trunk. I just took a quick look at the instructions but... do you really have to remove the trunk to install this thing?

Someone posted quite a while ago that they did it with out removing the trunk.?
I removed my trunk , At least it gave me a chance to grease the fittings. I wired it like the instructions, Then after i put it all back together i found out that the power only stays on for 20 seconds with the engine off.
I should have wired it direct to the battery[fused].

Hi,
i fitted mine inside the boot space without removing it then wired it into one of the extra places in the fuse box. it nice and dry and works beautifully. Didin't have to remove anything.
cheers

There are many ways to do anything you want to, but if you are going by the directions then you need to remove the trunk in order to drill it. It is not really that bad at all, and gives you an interesting look at your Spyder in a way you probably never saw it before. Just make sure you have the template in the right spot before drilling.

:agree: and ryde your Spyder with no trunk, feels like an RT...:roflblack:

12v power outlet

I added the outlet in 1-1/2 hours with taking the front off. I did find that the template put the outlet too close to the steel frame behind the trunk. Before drilling the hole make sure the outlet will go into the open area and not hit the frame. I heard yesterday that a dealer had installed one on a Spyder that must have wore thru the wires and caused it to catch on fire.

Many reasons.....

A week ago I took the Spyder (via trailer) to my dealer to let them work on it for a few problems--- including the DPS. I removed the panels and trunk before taking it to the dealer to make things easier for them--- and I've also got some custom wiring, etc. that I didn't want them messing with as I was 99% sure they would need to remove the trunk and install a new DPS.

After getting it back I wanted to give it a good test before putting it all back together.... so I got a good combo of riding in--- backroads, highway, and some performance riding---- and it's running better than ever!

Sunday was a great day for a ride--- wasn't gonna let the lack of panels or trunk stop me from ryding! There really isn't any reason you can't ryde without these parts on...

Will put it back together this week after finishing some more mods to it.......

I did notice that the radiator fan will start spinning on its own from airflow thru the radiator at 40 mph.........

I figured that is what happened. Were there any issues at all with heat from the pipes without having the side panels on? I am thinking of where SethO got his legs burned pretty bad because he couldn't feel what was happening.

No heat problems whatsoever....... just plenty of strange looks....

In fact one guy pulled up to my shop--- I was working on Tina's (8legs) Spyder and had mine parked outside all torn down. The guy asked if I build those there and how much one would cost.......:roflblack:

Should have told him $100,000 and I can have him either a black or silver one done tomorrow......:2thumbs::shocked::D

I'll have an Apple Fritter waiting for you at SITS. :2thumbs:
I won't be at SITS, but I'm still shooting for Lamont's. I'll pass on the fritter, thanks anyway. I am no longer diabetic, but I still eat as though I am. I know what got me here. :D

Someone once asked me if mine was for sale. I told them $30,000 and I will give you the key right now. :D There is something to be said about supply and demand after all. :2thumbs:
