• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. at about 530am 4 miles from home a deer decided to cross the road in front of me, I love the way the spyder stops at 50, but I hit her back legs, I turned around to check on her,she staggered a bit and jumped through a fence, so I headed on to work everything felt good, It was daylight when I got to work. minor damage.View attachment 7853

Glad you're okay

I'm glad to hear you are okay. Judging by the photos, the Spyder damage looks minimal. Hopefully the deer is alright. Ride safe.

 whew, that was close! glad you're safe and the Spyder didn't suffer too much.

Over the past umpteen years, Vaughn is very careful but he has hit 3 deer within a few miles of the house (on his motorcycle before we got the Spyders).

I used to be a deer lover, but now I'd rather shoot them while they're young and maybe save a driver later :gaah:

(I'll probaby get a bunch of PM's from all the Spyderlovers who are also PETA members....) :roflblack:

Cat

I've seen pics of 2 others that hit deer also-- with much worse damage-- and the riders walked away from the accident--- doubtful you could do that on 2 wheels.

Glad you're okay---- the spyder can always be fixed or replaced!

WOW !!! ocfire82, YOU ARE LUCKY !! Glad to hear you came thru ok :2thumbs:
I just got mine back from the shop two week ago, after being there for four weeks. I had $3200 damage from my deer hit :gaah:
I think there ought to be a deer hit patch awarded to all spyder survivors :ohyea: :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:

Glad you came out of this without injury. A deer meeting up with my motorcycle is the reason that I ride a spyder today.
Ride safe

:spyder:
The highway dept. puts up all those deer crossing signs so the deer know where to cross the road and yet the deer cross where ever they want. Something should be done about that. [30-06?] ;)

go about 33 seconds in. If you see it on a large screen the guy is going 85 mph- VERY lucky!

yeah good you got the back side of the deer, I did too but got more of the whole back side. glad you did not get smashed up.

Glad to hear you are okay after your encounter. The good thing to take away from this is so far every Spyder ryder posting on here about hitting a deer has walked away from it. I definitely hope this continues to be the case.

if it were not for the spyder I still wouldent be riding. i rode 2 wheels till I joined the VFD at 22. the first crash call I went on was bike vs deer. the guy lived, but after my first year I seen enough doa bikers to get rid of my bike. deer and elk are my biggest concern while on the spyder,[loose gravel and rain dont bother me anymore] so now I'm putting 100w driving lights on,:2thumbs: instead of my 55w fog lights

That's one patch I hope I don't EVER get (the deer hit part...not the survivor part :D). However, if they make patches for hitting ducks I should have one for each shoulder. Although those hits were on motorcycles (Ducati's appropriately enough), not my Spyder. Still hit a flying duck at 70 mph and it almost toppled me backward off the bike and bruised my shoulder where it hit through my padded jacket.
Second one was just a domestic one on the side of the road that heard the noise and decided to cross to other side and I only caught him on the fender. I've lost count of how many birds I've hit though...at least six or seven. And had to do a "stoppie" once for a wild turkey. All better than deer, though.
