• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Drunk driver accident 3 houses down...

Late this afternoon, I was in my front yard pulling weeds and i heard a whap... Bang!

I and nearly everyone in the neighborhood came out and a fairly large crowd gathered. Evidently, this guy 50ish+ completely drunk, smelled of liquor struck a steel signal light pole.

He was coming down a nearby street that branches onto the main drag that I live on. He didn't make the turn and jumped curb, popped at least one of the tires and then struck the pole. Good thing too... the family in the house right in his path have two cars in the driveway and he would have certainly plowed through it all and land in their kitchen. After striking the pole, the car abruptly stopped and landed 90deg from it original direction. Two other tires popped.

The guy was totally out of it and did seem harmed. Police and EMT did show. He was taken in the ambulance with a neck brace on. He reeked of alcohol and empty bottles fell out of the back of his suv as they pulled him out. Everyone was saying how lucky he is and that he didnt kill anyone.

It was amazing how forceful the crash was. The pole still looks solid. How luck the home owner is! This could have been much more horrible.

I hope he looses his license when his legal issues are over. Its sightings like this that make me wish would have prohibition and ban all liquor.

Just my opinion but if you were to ban liquor, I think it would be worse. The more you take away from folks, the more they are gonna want it.

He SHOULD lose his license for a LONG TIME and if we stuck by the laws in the first place, he'd have plenty of jail time as well which he so deserves. But you know lawyers - they are good at getting people off or getting the punishment lessened. That is why we have a ton of idiots who are repeat offenders.

Really happy no one was hurt!

But banning Liquor is like banning motorcycles because of the few that drive reckless and do wheelies down the street at twice the speed limit...

I totally agree that the driver needs to lose his driving privilege and maybe spend time in an alcohol program. Trying to ban alcohol was tried once and failed miserably. Just have judges enforce the existing laws.

As a police officer I agree with most of these post, we see this everyday and more and more often. I myself had a guy high on huffing "Duster" in a can and he hit alot of stuff including a building !!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that Lawyers get alot of people off, but the main problem are the prosectors making quick deals to the Lawyers to cut down on court time and a trial. most people dont know that the State prosector is the deal maker most of the time.

It seems right know its all about money and jail space, deals are made on just about everycase no matter what the crime is.......i dont like it, but the powers that be have made it that way.

Its.......A change in the times...................

As always........besafe out there Riders!!!!!!!!!!!!

:agree:

In two separate wrecks involving road rage and alcohol, I've lost 2 loved ones, only to watch the drivers walk away with no jail time, not even a ticket, in both cases.... something is really wrong when a driver can be under the influence of rage, alcohol, or whatever, and kill somebody, then walk away, go home to their families and on with their lives. :gaah:
Okay, I'll get off my soap box.

Agreed, we've just gotta keep cool, calm and collected and our eyes open for the crazies out there....

Cat, you've earned the right to be on a soapbox, and there are a lot of people who need to hear you.

Another reason so many drunks walk away after an accident is that we're not willing to pay to house these a$$hats in jail, where they belong. We don't build new jails and, at least around here, they are all overcrowded while more get closed due to a budget crunch.

Forget about new jails - this country is broke.

Gotta enforce the laws on the books and hell, if they have to overcrowd the jails - so be it. Let the inmates deal with that problem - they caused their own fate.

And maybe if they actually enforce the laws as they should be enforced, who knows, even the real dumba$$es might think twice about committing a crime.

My understanding is that the US prison system is the fastest growing employer in the nation .... sad testimony isn't it? :gaah:

But for the people who are commiting these crimes and walk away, their lives are their worst punishment . . . and one of these days, they'll pay their dues. I just want to be sure that their actions don't cause me to become bitter, cos then we both lose.

Sucks to be them. My philosophy is "Neither blind, nor bitter" :2thumbs:

Cat

Sucks to be them yes. Only way this could slow down is if laws are enforced (which they aren't) or even better - make the punishment actually FIT the crime! They never thought of that huh?!
