Spyders in the Smokies Rally, who's going?

I'm so excited that so many are going:yes::clap:. I missed last years :(, but, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. It's lonely here in Hampton Roads, Va. There are about 22 Spyder owners within a 50 miles radius here, but have only been able to ride with two :doorag::doorag:. I hope more will come out of hiding soon.
Did anyone camp at the last rally? If so did you plan on doing it this year, too. Were are the good grounds?

Spyders in the Smokies

It looks like Capt. John and I will be at the Red Roof. I look forward to renewing old acquaintances and meeting some new ones. Lamont, there may be enough Spyders in your front yard that no one (not mentioning any names) will have to cross the ditch.:roflblack:

Smokies

My wife and I will be there, booked Red Roof Inn 19-25 in March. Would like to go to the BBQ if someone will show me where.

Leap of Faith

Despite all the issues I'm having with my :spyder:, I pulled the trigger and registered for the SitS as a room at the Microtel. I had such a great time last year and would like to put more names with faces in person.
Keeping my fingers crossed...

For those who are wondering, it's still in the shop but Carlo is on the case now so hopefully the wheels of progress will start to move....

In Forrest's defense, it was dark out by the time he left (one of the last ones of leave) and the shallow ditch he was stuck in wasn't really noticeable. Still it's fun to pick on him about this, I'm glad he can take the ribbing. :D

I was just remembering the first year of the SpyderLovers BBQ. docdoru, patches and someone that was later dubbed SpyderKiller took off for Lamont's place ahead of the group Lamont was leading back. We caught up to them with patches's Spyder having a flat on the side of the road after his Spyder and SpyderKiller's Goldwing "kissed" at a busy intersection. Lamont missed a good portion of his first BBQ in helping trailer the Spyder back to his place. Hopefully this year will be more uneventful. :D

:agree: on all counts. It is surprising that more people didn't get stuck in that trap. This time it was the Spyder that got caught!

That first year was rough. Lamont missed most of the event helping others and SpyderLovers missed Lamont. There's just no reasonable substitute for :firstplace:. But otherwise the food was great (as it always is) and everyone still had a great time.

Lamont fixed that problem by getting a few of us to be rescue volunteers if needed. Lamont will not tolerate someone being stranded (with the exception of yours truly) but he doesn't feel right about not being at his own event either.

Last year it was Forrest getting stuck in the ditch, in the dark. It was an eerie sight. All those lights shining up into the dark sky with strange sounds emanating from the general vicinity. Not sure which were coming from the Spyder and which were coming from the rider.

Almost no one was there to witnesss it, yet it is widely known. Wonder how that happens? :D But hey....what are friends for anyway?

Each year there is something special to remember. You never know what it will be, you just know it will be something unplanned.

INHO it is the 'Can't Miss' Spyder event of the year...Hope I can make it!

then there was the guy who thought he could walk on water, and the guy who rolled backwards down the hill after tipping over the lawn chair...

Thank you
