There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The saga continues...

The Spyder spent six days in the shop for the dps and suspension problems. The first payment was made while the Spyder awaited repair.

The servicing dealer concedes that there is a vibration in the rear end and he advised me that I would have to pay for two hours of labor for them to remove the (dealer installed - but by this dealer) trailer hitch to adjust the belt.

The servicing dealer also advised that I would have to take up the issue of the broken cb antenna with the dealer I purchased the Spyder from. I am in Ohio for three months. The dealer is in Clearwater, Florida.

I spoke to the service manager in Clearwater. He advised that the CB antenna is a warranty issue and that the servicing dealer should have fixed it. He suggested I call BRP tech support. I tried that for five hours and kept getting a recording to call back later. I finally called customer service. Customer service advised that the antenna should have been replaced. They also advised that it does not take two hours to remove the trailer hitch and adjust the belt. She would NOTcall the serving dealer. I had to call the servicing dealer back and ask them to call the tech support team... I am still waiting to hear from the servicing dealer.

Meanwhile, I go out to start the Spyder tonight.... lo and behold the infamous engine light is flashing and I am back into limp mode. I have put less than one hundred miles on the Spyder since it's last visit to the shop. How many times will my insurance pay to have the Spyder towed to the dealer? Anybody know???

I love the way the Spyder handles when it is running properly. Unfortunately, I put on approximately 13,000 miles a summer... I do not feel comfortable taking off too far from my summer base at this point let alone riding back to Florida in the fall.

Sure am glad I kept my Gold Wing... I may be flying to Florida to get it!

Wow, That dealer really shows a lack of customer service. Warranty work is the same everywhere. If the dealers dont want to do it, BRP should PULL thier products from the stores. The one you are dealing with sounds like one we should all avoid. 2 hours to pull a cotter pin and slide a shaft out to remove the hitch. I need to become a service center so I can legally rob people....nope, that wont work....I have a concious...

:wrong:
I hitch comes off in less than a minute nojoke It has one bolt through the axle. You pull the nut and the bolt pulls out on the left side and the hitch just slides off. I did this in a parking lot for a guy. If nothing else you pull it off and take it back.

At this point I would email or call and ask to speak with Carlo. He's been pretty good at helping folks with dealer issues.

belt adjustment

How long does it take to adjust the belt?

The bike has 2400 miles on it... shouldn't the adjustment be covered under warranty?

Inquiring mainds would like to know....

Is not covered under warranty, but here are some "free of charge" solutions:
1. 6K revision (they need to remove the back wheel in order to inspect the bearings)
2. Replace used back tire
3. While in service for oil change, ask the service to apply the BRP 2010 bulletin re: new belt tension and the BRP 2010 bulletin re: front sprocket screw retightening. :doorag:

Update

Spoke with the servicing dealer today. They advise that BRP is gonna replace the speedo.... what does the speedo have to do with going into the limp mode??? The rep also advised that the engine light did not come on when they started it and no codes showed up on the computer....

Hope they fix it soon.... I have had the bike six weeks and it has been in the shop three times for a total of 11 days.... and counting~!

What dealer?

We Buckeyes need to stick together. nojoke

You need someone to have a chat with the dealer...I'm yer man. I can be pain in the ass when the situation calls for it. :D

Update

The servicing dealer called today and advised that the speedo and replacement cb antenna are on back order. Unknown date to expect it in.

I still don't understand what the speedo has to do with my engine light and going into the limp mode.

BRP needs to do something about getting parts to their dealer in a timely manner.

I understand that the dealership can do very little and this one has been very good under the circumstances.

Here I sit in Ohio. Was supposed to leave for Pennsylvania on Sunday... What was supposed to be a fun summer on the Spyder is quickly turning into a nightmare.

Sent an e-mail to Carlo... hope he can do something quick!

Both my Spyder RTs have been in the dealer's service dept for three weeks now (this time). Both have issues with modules not communicating. One has been in the shop off and on for months now (it's spent far more time with the dealer than me). I've only put a few hundred miles on it. My father and I have both canceled trips because the Spyder's are in the shop. Very unfortunate. I see Spyder commercials all the time now and I have to wonder why BRP is not addressing these issues before it goes full on to market the machine.

Question

I sent an e-mail to tech support on Friday afternoon. How long does it normally take Carlo to get back with someone??? I really would like to start my summer vacation...

The saga continues

...Still no call from Carlo...

Called customer support and explained the situation. I was promised that they will call the dealership and get back with me.... the waiting continues....

Day 49 as an owner
Day 17 in he shop

Day 50 as an owner...
Day 20 in the shop...

Got a call from Remi (?sp) at BRP...

He advised me that he had located the speedo/power module and he was overnighting it to the servicing dealer. He also advised me that he would personally call the dealership.

A short time later I got another call from Remi and he advised that he spoke to the dealership and that I should have my Spyder back shortly so I can get on with my now delayed trip.

The CB antenna is still on backorder until the middle of July... I can live without it for now!

Here's hoping that I will get the call from the dealership saying the Spyder is ready to roll!

The "overnight" parts did not make it overnight..... still waiting!:gaah:

The "overnite" parts seems to be a recurring theme. Then they arrive, but are the wrong parts, then the right part arrives but is bad too, then they are on backorder. Heard it before, and I feel sorry your missing out. What is so hard about selling and shipping parts?

Day 52 as an owner...
Day 22 in the shop...

The overnight part has still failed to appear.

Called BRP and left two messages.... no response...
Called Customer Service and was advised that the guy I talked to was off for a Canadian Holiday yesterday and again today.

Was put on hold while Customer Service "checked something." Finally hung up after waiting over fifteen minutes.

Called the sales manager where I bought the Spyder. The service manager is gonna call the district rep to see what he can do. Because of this fiasco I have missed one week of a scheduled trip, rent a car for one day, borrow a car on the other days, and stay in a hotel rather than camp as I would normally do. I am supposed to be in Pennsylvania right now and in the UP of Michigan on Monday...

Carlo never did answer my original e-mail...

I am about to load the Spyder on a trailer and drive 1100 miles to dump it at their front door along with the payment book Customer Service is horrid! ...and they want us to sing the praises of the Spyder!!!

Update

...called the servicing dealer... no part yet...

Got a call from the selling dealer... supposed to call me again in four hours...

Called Remi and left another voice mail...

Called Customer service twice and got a recording to call back later...

Still no response to my e-mail to Carlo...

Does anyone have a phone number for Carlo.... or a good lawyer???

Day 55 as an owner...

Day 25 in the shop...

Update

Well the Spyder made it out of the shop finally!

Kudos to Honda East in Maumee, Ohio. Brian and Dan did a super job in spite of a lack of support from BRP. Maybe someday BRP will address the lack of parts, communication problems, and plain old customer service.

I started the Spyder and then shut it down at the gas station. When I started it again I did not have to wait for the pre start checks to complete. I took it back to the dealer... He tried it and it did the same thing. He tried another Spyder that was in for repair and it did the same thing...

Gonna ride it and see what happens.... anyone have any ideas on this???

Made my second payment today...

Day 59 as an owner....
Day 29 and finally out of the shop....
