There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Northern Vermont Meet & Ride

I know what you mean about being busy - I'm working quite a bit of O.T. Got a new boss and I work thru my lunch and I can't get out at 5 and I could stay there till probably 8 each night and still not be done w/ my stuff.

Hopefully we can do 8/13! Let's hope the weather is nice!:2thumbs:

Will it be just you and HDX coming down, or will you have other friends coming down with you as well if you do come? I will try to get some rooms at a hotel blocked for everyone, once I research which one we will use.

Yes! Nice weather will be a plus! It is so scenic out there in the NEK, that it would be ashamed to have the day ruined by bad weather.

Would be nice to have Roaddog and Mrs. Roaddog come - you can see his new Harley. I'll ask him. Right now just me and HDX.

I've stayed at the Hampton Inn in Colchester before and it was nice. They had milk and cookies set out in the evening. :2thumbs:

Had to bow-out of the Chicago event due to a blown cage engine.(priorities suck)

Hoping to hook up with some other from the hudson valley and join up with the CN. bunch, Kim and Lou, Mike and his wife whom I have not met yet. Should be allot of fun. Hope Roger can make it, cause he always a hoot.

Hotel for "Lakes Region Tour"

I have researched this some and it looks like the Quality Inn in Colchester will be the choice. This place is just off I-89, Exit 16. I wasn't able to reach the lady that I needed to talk to today about blocking a section of rooms for us. I did however stop by the hotel yesterday to check it out. They showed me around the place and told me about what they have to offer. I think it will fit the needs for this group. There are plenty of rooms available for us. The group rate is $99.00 per night. This includes a complimenty deluxe continental breakfast, heated pool, internet access, etc... Walking distance to other restaurants and convenience stores. I would have to recommend Libbys Blue Line Diner just across the street from the hotel. If you want a tasty breakfast, its the place to go!
I hope to have this confirmed tomorrow and get the rooms blocked for us. I'll try to hold 15 rooms for us if I can. Keep watching for more updates!

I have the Hotel update.

I stopped in at the Quality Inn today and talked to Julie LaCroix-Wilt, the Sales Director for Quality Inn in Colchester Vermont. I went over a couple more details and blocked 12 ground floor rooms for us. If we need more rooms we can do so. For now I think 12 rooms should be fine. The group rate for the rooms will be $99.00 per night. We also have until August 1st to hold that rate. After August 1st, the rate will go up to the standard rate which is $129.00 per night. So talk to your friends and get those rooms booked before then if you don't want to pay the higher rate. You also have 24 hours to cancel your reservation, should you decide you can't make the trip for some reason the day before. There are smoking and non-smoking rooms available for us. You can call the hotel if you want more details. Here is the location, phone numbers and a link below for the hotel.

When booking your rooms be sure to mention that it is for the
Spyder Riders -Lakes Region Tour.

SO LET THE PARTY BEGIN! Lets get those rooms booked ASAP!

August 13th,14th and 15th

I forgot to mention, If some of you decide that you want to come up early, I will be available to meet up with you if you want to do some local area ride or just meet for a social gathering some place. I will be booking my room for Friday and Saturday night. I only live about 19 miles away from the hotel, but I will be at the hotel to join the rest of the party. This should be a lot of fun for all of us. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you for this tour!

Also, spread the word. I'm not sure if everyone reads these posts all the time. On the Bennington ride there were some folks from Spydertalk along for the ride that I've met. Is anyone here able to contact some of those folks and let them know and if they would go on this ride as well?

I'm booked in. Thanks Adrien. We should have a blast. Also I will contact the bunch from Spydertalk.

It should be a good time for sure! My dealer is just a few miles from the hotel. This is Landair in Essex Jct Vt. They are the local Canam, Skidoo, KTM, Honda and Suzuki dealer for the area. We are welcome to go visit them while on this tour if we have time.

I'll do it tomorrow - putting a reminder on my DROID.

We'll also be up there for the Killington Classic. Got our rooms for that:2thumbs:

I guess you will have a couple visits to VT! Thats great! I'm looking forward to meeting up with you guys again!

You know Kim, if you psych yourself out to much for these rides up here, you won't want to go back to CT :joke:

If HDX and I didn't have jobs in CT, why would we go back?!

We're stuck so we can get a pay check - that's about it for this state!

Yes! We could plan on that. I want to have a social hour later that day, but we could do a local area ride. Saturday will be the big ride to the NEK.

Don't know if I will be up early, but that question was asked to me. For me it depends on my work load, but good answer.

My plan for this tour is to start out Saturday morning and head east on Rte 15 from Colchester. We will then take a break in Jeffersonville, which is in the foothills of Mount Mansfield. We will then continue east either stay on Rte 15 or divert to Rte 109. Rte 109 takes us through the Waterville and Belvidiere area. This is a curvy road, but a scenic route with streams, a nice pond and Mountain backdrops. From there we continue to Rte 118 east to Rte 100. From 100 we head north east to Rte 58 in Lowell. From, there we will head east on Rte 58 to Orleans at the I-91 intersection. We may take a rest stop here. At this point we will head south on Rte 5 to Barton, continue south along the shore line on Crystal Lake. This is a nice lake. I go to the beach at Crystal Lake State Park usually a couple times during the summer. We will continue to West Burke and take Rte 5A north from here. This route will take us to Westmore where we will see Lake Willoughby. This lake we will want to stop for pictures at different points. Of all the Lakes in Vermont, this lake is just one of my favorite lakes to visit! It just is such a beautiful scenic lake with cliffs, waterfalls and Mt. Pisgah bordering its shores and a beach on it's northern shore! From here we will continue north on Rte 5A to Rte 105 at West Charleston. At this point I will make a decision depending on how much time we have. I would like to go east on Rte 105 to Island Pond. From Island Pond we will take Rte 114 to Rte 111. We would take Rte 111 to Morgan and stop at Lake Seymour. This is another beautiful lake with nice views. From here we would go to Rte 5 in Derby Center. We will then Head west to Newport and have lunch here. My plan is to eat at the East Side Restaurant on the shore line of Lake Memphremagog. In Newport we will also have opportunities to take pictures and just relax and walk around if we would like. From Newport we will continue on Rte 105 West all the Way to St.Albans where we will hook I-89 back to Colchester, or we will Take Rte 100 back to Rte 15 and Back to Colchester on that Rte. This will be determined on how much time we have. Also, there has been some road construction on Rte 105 from Newport heading west. If the paving isn't complete by this time, I will choose to head back on Rte 100. This ride will be over 200 miles. I hope we all have the energy for it! I sure hope it doesn't rain that day!

I've been looking at the Vermont map and I am curios the routing.

I went on a solo ride today with the spyder to scout out the route that I described above. I may make some modifications as we head out on this trip in order for us to make it for lunch at a reasonable time. I stopped in at the restaurant in Newport where I plan to have us stop and get some information about making reservations. This is The East Side Restaurant, which has a nice setting on the shore line of Lake Mempremagog. The restaurant has good food, a nice gift shop, a bakery with fresh baked goods, patio decks overlooking the lake by the boat docks where we can have lunch. I think the group will enjoy it here!
