• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Seeking help with Riser Question

I've been enjoying my '09 SE5 since late March and I'm starting to make it my own. I've added a Cal-Sci Windshield & CanAm custom grip with the billet handlebar inserts. The original owner had already upgraded this Spyder with a tank bag, trunk liner insert, fog lights, custom seat and the Yosimura exhaust. I'm thinking seriously about making 3" or 4" handlebar risers my next addition to my Spyder. However, my mechanic/shop skills are not such that this is a project that I would perform myself. Where do you go to get something like this done? Dealership? Machine shop? From pictures I've seen, it looks like you're cutting off the ends of the handle bars, attaching the risers to the remaining stub, then putting the the handlebar/grip ends into the upper portion of the riser. I live in the Phoenix, AZ area. I want this to be done right and to look professional.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

:2thumbs: Great mod and a very easy do it your self mod with a few tools. If unable to do this yourself I'm sure any motorcycle repair shop would do it for you with the easy to follow instructions . You could try a BRP dealer but not sure if they would do it.

I don't know your skills, But It's not that hard to do.
And don't let the cutting of the handle bars throw you ,cutting them is easy as opening a can of tuna.
Just remember measure twice, cut once.;)

I put my risers on by myself and I'm a girl...LOL :2thumbs: Also, our dealer sells ESI risers and I think they would install them as well.

an option . . .

I did a quick check on the KewlMetal site ( http://www.spyderlovers.com/adpeeps/adpeeps.php?bfunction=clickad&uid=100000&bzone=slgeneralboard&bsize=280x80&btype=3&bpos=default&campaignid=326449&adno=7&transferurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kewlmetalstore.com%2F ), one of this sites sponsors and there are a bunch of their dealers in AZ, perhaps, if you call them, you could get an estimate on installation. Use the site's dealer locator.

I have the ESI risers, and they function great, but knowing what I know now, I would do the KewlMetal version - they seem to be a lot more flexible in the adjustment category. Other riders who have installed the KewlMetal risers have said some great things about them.

Here is the link to KewlMetal's risers: http://www.kewlmetalstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=5_39&products_id=456

:agree:

Got a change to test CaptJohn's Kewlmetal risers and I must say they are A+++. Once I get everything else done that I want to do to the Spyder I will probably swap mine (ESI - nothing bad to say about these riser they work great too) to the Kewlmetal. Just like the added adjustments you can make.
