There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Alternative Hotel for the Can-Am Spyder Owners Event

Okay here's the deal. After talking with a few folks about staying in the hotel in downtown Chicago I was not surprised to hear that not everyone was too keen on the idea. I'm sure it's a nice place and all but the price is a little much for my budget and I hate dealing with downtown traffic.

So I was talking with another member in Cuba about this and he booked a room about 12 miles from the real event at the Lehmann Mansion in Lake Villa, IL. The Sheraton in Chicago is about 52 miles away.
Map of Hotels to event

It sounds like a really nice place and it's a heck of a lot cheaper. The Sheraton is $170.00 per night and this place (Candlewood Suites of Libertyville) is $65.00 per night for 35 of the rooms I blocked and $95.00 per night for 5 of the rooms that are bigger. These are really nice rooms, click here for details.

I'm sure these are going to fill up fast so book your room asap. They do have plenty of parking and can handle trailers too.

By the way this is going to be much more than just a Spyder event. Bring your swimsuit and be ready to try out a bunch of new and existing BRP product. Might even have something there that nobody has ever seen before. :doorag:

I was on hold for a while because I guess they are signing them up. Just make sure you tell them SpyderLovers group.
It's going to be nice to be closer to the event. :doorag:

OK, well I am signed up:thumbup:. At the Reservation Office told me that they hadn't heard of the SpyderLovers, group.:dontknow: She actually said "You mean that there is a group of you out there that love SPIDERS?":gaah: I had to set her straight. I got a room for $69 but they said that they would charge the $65 rate when the paperwork came through. We'll see.

I called and had her fix it. It just wasn't in the computer yet.

Ok, one, do you really want to see the big man in a bathing suit?:gaah:

and two, does that mean the new side x side will be there? Now we can have some real fun:ohyea:. Might have to work on some NEW goodies for that.

and three, looks like I need to mount a hitch on the back of the trailer so we can pull the Sea Doos in tandem behind the semi!

That's what I get for being prompt:lecturef_smilie:
During the preceding week I will be in Hollister, CA getting my new custom seat. I'll pass through Chicago on my way back to Ohio so everything should work out OK.

Just tried to call while working the night shift and I have to wait until 0700 in the morning for reservations. I plan on getting booked first thing and dropping the room at the Sheraton. Thanks Lamont.

Great to have other options not too far away. Only concern I would have is riding into town and parking for some of the events at the hotel and Navy Pier. Then again for the savings you can always take a cab or other public transport into town.

Pretty sure Someguy and I will stick with the Sheraton... but we'll see plenty of you guys regardless.

Now if Doc and just find us a good 'testing' area, we'll be all set....:D

Can't wait!

Dan,
Part of the reason we are switching is that there were no events at the hotel when we were in LA. People just stayed there and we did socialize some in the lobby. It was close to the event which was nice. In this case, the hotel is not real close to the event. I think they are doing this for the ride down LakeShore drive. But as Brian pointed out, LakeShore drive is a very busy road and it could be a real mess.

Yup-- traffic is my main concern. I thought they were having some events at or near the Sheraton :dontknow:.. but perhaps not. I know there was something about the Navy Pier dinner. I'll talk to Mike and see what he wants to do. I just don't want to try and find parking downtown if I don't have to.

We also decided NOT to take the ferry for this trip. Doesn't save us any time, but would be neat to do sometime.

8legs and I are switching too don't really want to drive downtown and really want to be close as possible to the event. thanks Lamont.
