• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP Owners Event- Registration Now Open!

I asked about the owner's event months ago and nobody knew anything. Got tired of waiting to make plans and decided to go to Ireland, alas without the spyder - they don't even have a dealer.:spyder2:

Happy spyder owner

Brian and I are registered and have two nights at the Sheraton confirmed. Looking forward to it. Our third BRP Owners event.

Registered for the event; last year was for "a movie and a burger"; this year for "a demo ryde"...btw, what are the demo Spyders? RS, RT or…:doorag:

Well, I would really like to attend, and it is close by. I hate Chicago traffic in a car, so the thought of being in the heart of Chicago on a Spyder scares me half to death. Being a relatively new rider, and a rider in mostly urban or suburban areas, Nancy is really bothered by the thought of it. We'll have to talk about it, after I get her heart restarted. The hotel room cost put her into cardiac shock! :roflblack:

Gonna have to reconsider this one.

The Chicago Loop is not a good place for a motorcycle event. I avoid Chicago whenever I can. I will take the Tri-State just to avoid downtown Chicago. I grew up in Milwaukee, so I have had a lot of experience with Chicago.

Here's an idea. You could take the Lake Michigan Ferry from Muskegon to Milwaukee and then go to Lake Villa and skip the stuff at the lake front. Motorcycles ride free on the ferry this May and June. My Michigan son is a Harley rider and he sometimes uses the ferry to avoid the ride around Chicago. It works great for him.

There are a number of hotels in the Lake Villa area. Think Gurnee, or Waukegan, for example.

When I checked the info on the ferry, it said motorcycle ride free but not Trikes. As we are a reverse trike, my guess is we would not ride free either. It begins to add up when you figure the cost of the passenger and the spyder and it doesn't save any time even with Chicago traffic. It is $129.00 round trip per person and each trike round trip is another $129.00, that adds up fast. For those prices, I will head through Chicago.

Looks like the group rate at the Sheraton is $169 per night.....

Gonna have to think about that--- not sure I want to stay 3 nights @ $169/night......

Wonder how they got a group rate of $169 when if you just go to the hotel main web site without using the brp link the rate shows up as $160.

I used the brp link and the rate was $169.00 That is weird. I do know if you go to the hotel site directly and look for a room for those dates not through BRP, it shows no rooms available. BRP obviously blocked a number of rooms.

Call the hotel, that's what I did.

Deb: You make a good point, but my suggestion was intended to address Scotty's concerns about Chicago traffic. I think of the Interstate that goes around the bottom of Lake Michigan as the bowling alley. When the truck traffic is heavy and it is raining I feel like I am riding my motorcycle in a bowling alley and the trucks are the bowling balls. The backwash from the trucks can make life miserable. This said, I frequently do the ride around Chicago on this highway. When I am trying to get somewhere, the ferry schedule is often not in harmony with my needs. I have been doing the bowling alley for 50 years and I still don't like it.:roflblack:

My GF and I are also registered. I'll likely also ride in from where I live in Milwaukee on Saturday morning, then back home. When the date gets closer perhaps we will link up with a few others with similar plans.

Cant wait to rip around on a quad...

Justin

Parking??

Has anyone found out what they will charge to park your spyder? When I was up there a month ago and stayed downtown, parking was $42/day on top of the room charge. Some hotels charge extra for in and out during the day.
I'm going to have to think about this. I d*** sure don't look forward to driving a spyder around downtown Chicago.

Now that's encouraging! :roflblack: I have always wanted to take the ferry, but two Spyders, round trip, gets expensive. That's the cost of some nice mods, wasted. Still trying to persuade Nancy, but not making much progress. We might just ignore it and take a tour up the Lake Michigan shore, camping as we go. Big cities give me a rash.....with or without traffic. I'd love to meet everybody, but not if I am having a nervous breakdown. :yikes:

I've missed a lot of gatherings because I can't talk my wife into going. But I am going to this with or without her. Heck, this thing is practically in my back yard. To the Michigan Spyder ryders. What are your plans for arrival times, stay over and departure after the event.

I'm probably going to take the ferry across... never heard about the 'free bike' deal, but will check into it. I'm sure they still charge for the person anyway.

I was thinking of coming in Thursday.... but might just make it Friday instead.

Has anyone confirmed with the Sheraton that the $169 includes parking???
