• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

That's the weekend of the Jimmy Buffett concert in Alpine Valley.:gaah: Too much fun to be had and not enough time.

Chi-town sure isn't the best place to have this event, but it should be fun nonetheless for those who are lucky enough to be able to attend.

We won't be able to make this one.

Just registered.... strange thing is for 'country' selection they don't show 'United States' as an option......

Guess 'Others - North America' will have to do.......

Looks like the group rate at the Sheraton is $169 per night.....

Gonna have to think about that--- not sure I want to stay 3 nights @ $169/night......

Thanks for looking into this for us Lamont.

That's a pretty typical price for Chicagoland......

Most places also charge $25+ extra a night if you need a parking space...nojoke

Probably going to have to go 1/2 hour or so north to get a better deal..... I'll do some looking around...... while I do occasionally like staying at nice places that are a few hundred a night.... this isn't one of those times..... Although if I split the room with Someguy that won't be too bad.

Quite different than the $49/night at the Red Roof in Gatlinburg !

Well, I would really like to attend, and it is close by. I hate Chicago traffic in a car, so the thought of being in the heart of Chicago on a Spyder scares me half to death. Being a relatively new rider, and a rider in mostly urban or suburban areas, Nancy is really bothered by the thought of it. We'll have to talk about it, after I get her heart restarted. The hotel room cost put her into cardiac shock! :roflblack:

Gonna have to reconsider this one.

I think Indianapolis would have been a better choice. LSD is not exactly a great place to do a Spyder ride in Chicago and traffic there is a nightmare. Add a huge group of Spyders and talk about going nowhere fast!

The hotel would not be a big deal to me because I have a friend that lives in Chicago, but $169/night is steep. It was one of the reasons I didn't stay at the host hotel at the last event. You'll get a better deal in the suburbs, just avoid some of the sketchier parts of town.

Have fun!!!!!!!!

Yeah-- Chicago drivers use their horn far more than their brakes!

And while LSD can be scenic...not sure how much scenery you can take in while watching out for your life!

But I'll do it.......

Just thinking of the FOOD..... YUUUUUUM.

I'm in registered and room reserved, traffic won't be too bad Lake Shore Dr. is not a bad route I've done it a couple of times once even in rush hour anyone comin in on I80 from the west want to hook-up let me know.

Jim:thumbup:

I'm planning on staying home and riding to Lake Villa in the morning of the 26th.

If others are interested in staying in SE Wisconsin, we could organize an evening event on the 25th and all ride to Lake Villa. Tons of very inexpensive motels close to where I live and more affordable hotels.

Lake Villa is about an hour (less than 50 miles) from my house on the freeway/tollway, but I am sure we could find a more scenic route than I-94/US-41.

Let me know what you guys think or send me a PM.

:2thumbs: Just booked my room through Hotels.ca, Wingate by Wyndham 79 CDN. a night. Indoor pool, free breakfast, free parking, free WiFi, 171 guest rated it 9 out of 10. Only 7 miles to downtown Chicago. Considering I'm only going to sleep there the extra 90 bucks a night i save will pay for my meals !
