Good deal?

I went for a test drive on an '09 SE5 today and made the decision to give up my Roadking and buy a Spyder.

Seemed the folks at the dealership I test drove it at weren't really in the mood to talk price, so I ended up at another dealership this afternoon.

They have an '10 orbital blue SE5 out the door for $18,900 (tax, title & setup charges all included). This doesn't include the extended warranty, lojack or any BRP goodies thrown in.

Is this a good price? Just want to get a good deal on a Spyder, and not sure what a fair price should be.

Thanks for the advice in advance!

This is about $100 over MSRP, so you are not getting that good of a deal.

I'm am fairly certain that you can negotiate something lower. How much are you getting for your Road King? I've seen dealers selling MSRP or close to but diving better deals on trade ins.

Good luck.

Just my opinion, Dealer satisfaction is far more important than price. Find a dealer you like buy it there even if you save $500.00 you may be stuck with a dealer you can't work with IMHO.

I paid $14,900

There were added fees tax tags etc., They were selling it for 300 less than a competing dealer, and gave me $6000 more for my trade. The added $1,000 in accessories and extra year on the warranty was nice.

Now for the bad news-I considered trading it for an RT-since I can not seem to get a comfortable position on my RS. They offered me 12K as a trade in with 230 miles and I had mounted the two Givi bags that I used part of the $1K incentive cash for., and wanted full list on the RT A/C . I had not realized the base model RT was not available with an SE transmission.

Bottom line would have been a difference of $13,900 plus tax etc to make the trade.

I am adding the ISCI floorboards and brake extension. The brake extension concerns me if I had to make a panic stop but I have a few ideas in that regard that may work.

:agree: It's not the lowest price that makes it a good deal, It's the best
dealer that makes it the good deal!

The 2010's are just hitting the showroom floors, so the dealers are going to be trying to get full MSRP for them at least. If you want to save some money, look for an 09; however, you will not find it in the blue color.

Best of luck.

Many thanks to Roger & Rnet for all the help they've offered me in the search for a Spyder~ you guys are great! Hope to get to meet you both at Artic in a week or two!

I also have a red spyder. It sounds like your goal was added comfort much as is mine. I added the comfort seat, a trunk liner and the Can-AM tank bag (to make up for lack of a glove box) yesterday. I also ran a filtered power wire for my X1 bluetooth GMRS communications device, which I use to stay in touch with my wife and riding group, as well as a USB extension for my Iphone that I use for tunes, and my GPS. I have made a couple of add ons I can plug into the power line so I can add other devices to the spyder as well.

I purchased a Scorpio alarm that I will install this weekend. I teach at a local community college, and given the many curious students, figured the perimeter alarm might keep them from getting too curious and sitting on it etc.!

I am getting used to the SE shifter, versus the CVT I had on my Silverwing scooter, and the handling is getting much better for me. I like it! My scooter riding group (EZ riders) that I still ride with along with my wife on her scooter trike, has been giving me a hard time saying I will never keep it, and discussing all of the extra gas I will be using. I told them that the difference between 30mpg and 50 mpg amounted to less than $500.00 a year. That $500.00 seems well worth it to me for the higher fun factor alone.

I am a little different on that. IMO dealers wants you back for services time after time because that where the real money is (i.e the $300 oil change and $100 per hour labor). They are less likely to care where your bike is from as long as there is money to be made. Even under warrenty coverage, they still get paid in full by BRP. But if they are incompetent and take longer and screws up along the way, then they eat the difference. I never had any trouble with getting services at dealers with any of my vehicles. I got cash to spend on service and they all want my business .... especially in this economy. If you pick and choose or gives less just because its not bought in your store, then you risk going out of business.

I think you are right my deal maybe because i built a good repore with them or the fact that ron aka rnet knows them but he did tell me he will help gimpy girl with the price if she decides to go with a 2009 model she will get a great deal.

Best deals are on '09s right now. If you can live with an '09 in a color other than orbital blue, you'll find some really good deals out there. If that blue has caught you eye & nothing else will do, you either have to spend more or wait a while. Decisions, decisions... I just picked up an '09 SE5 a couple of weeks ago with the custom seat, fog lights, a tank bag and a Yoshimura exhaust for $12,500. It's slightly used, 1450 miles, but the ride is AWESOME! Whatever you do, don't wait. There's a Spyder out there with your name on it. Tomorrow morning I'm putting a Cal Sci windshield on mine & hitting the Arizona highways.

Good Luck,

Bluzroker
