• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

parking brake woes

I've noticed on my spyder that is it very difficult to release the parking brake. It's adjusted so it engages at about 2 clicks and holds the bike well but releasing it is very difficult. Has anyone ever thought of using a cable release for it. I'm sure something can be rigged to do this. Will be looking at it very closely today and seeing if this can be done. Anyone having this same problem?:dontknow:

Spray the pedal-side mechanism with a little WD-40 or a dry-lube. It will work wonders. If you have an early Spyder, it may need the parking brake fix.

I will try your recommendation but my bike has not had the fix yet...that will be done with the next service in a month or two...

My 2008 SM5 parking brake was a bear to release. It set well but it might take 4 or 5 tries to release. And each try ran the risk of setting it tighter than before.

I had the brake fix/upgrade and it is smooth as silk now. Releases 1st time, every time ever since.

I got to where I dreaded having to use the PB before the fix. Now I don't think twice.

Highly recommended!

Is the "fix" a recall, mine would not unlocked and took forever to finally get it unlocked.
It is not a "Recall", it is a "Technical Service Bulletin ("Campaign to BRP) that applies only to some of the earlier 2008 Spyders. If you are having problems, and lubing the mechanism doesn't help, see your dealer.
