There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. :helpsmilie:There have been several posts regarding replacing OEM tires. Well it's time for my wife's Spyder (Spyder Ryder 810) to get new tires. I'm not sure if I want to stay with the original tires. So any help in deciding what tire to purchase would be great. I'm looking for:
. Manufacturer/Brand of tire
. # of miles you have logged on tire
. Handling characteristics
. What size you used front and rear
. Where did you purchase them from..regular store or online
You get the idea.
Thanks,
Bob and Joan

Bob, I just mounted my second Kumho, I got close to 20,000 on the first one compared to about 13,000 on the OEM. For the $71.00 price delivered and the $80.00 install price it was cheaper than buying just the OEM tire alone for almost twice the mileage. It rides well and does well in the rain and has a nice look to it too. I ordered from TireRack.com, compared all prices with shipping costs and that was the cheapest for that tire. Replaced fronts with OEM early on due to uneven wear from improper tire pressure. When the time comes to replace those again, I will be looking for aftermarket tires.

I really like my Toyo T1R I did a lot of research before I purchased it. The T1R isn't as cheap as some others but it is still much less than a stock tire.

I wanted something that handeled well in dry and excelled in wet. The race track tests gave this tire the highest G-Force in wet turns (of the tires that will fit our Spyder) and was in the upper brackets for G-Force in dry. It also did well in both wet and dry stopping distance.

Wear was somewhat better than average but wear was not my first priority.

I've only got about 2K on mine and it looks new. Can't say how long it will last me. I got 13K out of the OEM tire. Lamont has a lot more miles on his (don't know how many) but it still looks very good.

I was not as thrilled with it at first as I thought I would be. It spun easier than my bald stock tire. I though it might have be a combination of the HP upgrades I'd done plus a bald tire will give you better dry traction than a new tire. (well, my OEM tire was not completely bald but it did not have a lot of tread left). But in my heart I knew I was just making excuses. My new Toyo spun easier than it should have regardless.

Lamont has been very happy with his so I asked him about it. He said he was running 40psi in his and it was giving him great traction. I was running the same 28psi in the Toyo as I ran in the stock tire. I pumped it up to 38psi and the difference was amazing! I did not notice any real ride difference but the traction factor went way up.

I was not unhappy before but now I am a very happy Toyo owner. I don't think you can go wrong with the T1R but there are other good choices as well.

One thing I am convinced of. Why waste a lot of money on an OEM tire when there are several better products out there for less money?
