• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Today, I changed my BF Goodrich G-Force Sport 225/50R15 with a new one just like it. I wanted to try the Toyo T1R, but it has been on back-order since November. This is according to my local tire dealer. He said Toyo is revamping its distribution system.

The first G-Force Sport replaced the original OEM tire, which had 18,500 miles. The G-Force went 25,500 miles. As you can see from the picture, it should have been replaced some time ago. I was trying to get to the same degree of wear that the OEM tire had, so I could get a fair comparison (subjective - no picture). The OEM tire should have been replaced earlier than it was. It is fair to say that the G-Force tire went 7,000 miles farther than the OEM tire. Both should have been replaced earlier.

I am very pleased with the G-Force tire. The first one cost $114 and the second one cost $120. My after-market Harley shop charged one hour labor. I also have car tires on the front.

As you can see from the pictures, BF Goodrich changed the tread pattern somewhat on the G-Force tire.
 
When you change rear tire did you replace the bearings and seals ? And if so what was your cost . Juct curious as i have 12,000 miles on my stock rear and going to put the TOYO tire on and was told i should replace the bearings as well.

Normally, I would have changed the rear wheel bearings at this time, but for reasons peculiar to me I decided to separate the tire change from the bearing change this time. I will be changing the bearings some time in the next few weeks (before Missouri Rendezvous). There are 44,000 miles on the original bearings. Since I have a 2009 GS, the three bearings are all made in the U.S. (not China). I expect the bearings to be in good condition when they are removed. When the bearings are replaced, I will post the results.
 
My new rear tire came today. I only have 6000 mile on my stock rear and it's close to the wear bars. I got the Yokohama AVS ES100.

Looks like the center wore more than the edges, like the stock tire does. What pressure were you running?

I run 35psi front and rear. My stock tires (two Spyders) wore most a little left of center. This may have had something to do with the crown of the road??? The G-Force tire wore dead center. I intend to take temperature readings on the new tire to see if it is over-inflated. My front tires (10,000 miles) are wearing evenly across the width of the tire. I have not seen a Spyder yet that did not have the most wear on the center of the rear tire. Of course, I have not seen many Spyders other than my own.
 
Called all over looking for a Toyo T1R, found 2 at "BUYWHEELSTODAY.COM" in Ohio, one of them is in my shop, got it monday afternoon, he probably/ might still have one left, $120 1-866-747-6247. Looking at the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S 185-60-14 for the front, anyone tried these yet? I have 15,000 on my '08, Also bought new bearings and seals, got 2 SKF axle bearings and the drive hub bearing made by "National", with MOOG and FEDERAL MOGEL insignias on the box, got home and looked at it, "Made In China!", couldn't believe it.

I got just over 20,000 miles off my Kumho, so I bought another one. For $74 that included shipping, I just don't think I can go wrong. I only got a just under 13,000 on my stock tire. And the dealer only charged one hour labor at $88 to install so basically for the cost of one OEM tire by itself, I got the tire and the install and plan on getting at least 7000 miles more than I would on the OEM. and to top it off, it isn't a bad looking tire and sticks well on both dry and wet pavement.

Your experience seems to confirm my own. It is not unreasonable to expect to get 7,000 miles more on a car tire than on the stock tire. I would be using a car tire even if I didn't get any extra miles. I just think the car tire is better and safer. For me the cost to mount and balance the tire is the same whether it is stock or not. There are a number of Spyder owners using the Kumho tire. I almost went that way myself for my first Spyder. I put a G-Force tire on it and 2,500 miles later it burned. That was the extent of my experience with car tires for a while. Now I am on my third one.
