• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Duplicate PE#'s

As I have just discovered, babyanlee's and my PE numbers are the same....

Anyone care to try and explain this?:dontknow:

One of you two have a counterfit Spyder. Please send them both to me and I will get to the bottom of this.:D:D:D

Just talked with the powers to be :chat: and all Spyder PE's with numbers above 11 are to return their bikes :cus: for new PE's that will be one digit number higher than you received, :hun: so one of you 11's can then be awarded number 12 which will be a true collectors piece. :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack: Sorry, probably not that funny!

it's like a rare coin..... double struck.......
or it could be oooopppps on BRP account....
there were only supposed to be 2500 PE of the GS and i think there ended up being over 3800 .... or maybe you too are RT mates .....:roflblack:

The possibilities of this had concerned me from the start. With the first Spyders, the PE number was the same as the last digits of the VIN#. The digits are repeated model by model, though. With both SM and SE versions this time, which are different models, following the VIN# would not work, unless BRP modified its procedures so as not to duplicate the digits, or skipped back and forth (first 100 SEs, second 100 SMs, and so forth). I was hoping they wouldn't run into another PE fiasco, but it looks like there are difficulties once again. I wonder how many more duplicates there are? Here's hoping there is a satisfactory explanation and a correction, but I am not holding my breath.

Now if I can just find the other #0150 out there. Wonder which one of us is the evil twin. :joke:

Don't even think on it.

Absolutely no one at spyderlovers since 2007 has ever gotten concerned with PE numbers or their significance or how BRP counts...:joke:

Anyhow, when babyanlee is in riding season, you'll be in Australian winter 'cause of that whole tilty axis thing we do with this planet.

When you have Santa Claus time in December and are riding in beautiful weather, babyanlee's ryde will be garaged.

No one will ever see the two of you in the same room, uh, road, at the same time.

I know that to some, the PE numbers have significance, but what does it really matter in the end? To what importance is that number??? Vanity, bragging rights? Did you check your whole VIN number to see if the last two digits are the same as your PE number on the seat? If I may suggest, write to BRP and ask them. They are the ones who did the seat and put the number there. We could speculate all we want here and never solve the mystery.

:hun: Different country/continent.

Since they all are built in Canada, all VINs would start with the number 2. The 8th digit from the end indicates the year, which on ours is an 'A', for 2010. The next digit is the manufacturing plant location, which on mine is indicated by the letter 'V'. The last 6 digits are the manufacturing sequence numbers.

If there are more than one plants, there would be different characters in the 7th from the last position. If that is the case, then the last 6 numbers could be repeated.

The two of you comparing the VINs might prove interesting.
