• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F1 Mantis Fairing ?

I know alot of Spyder owners have purchased products from F1 Windshields. Can anyone provide any information about the Mantis Fairing and matching topcase. I ordered the fairing awhile back, since then there has been a price increase on the fairing from $1299.00 to $1499.00, addition of the rear case which turned out to be one piece (side cases/topcase) for a combined price of $5000.00 Wow! With a down payment upon ordering and additional funds being debited from my account in November and after several phone call and a few conversations, I still have not recieved my fairing.:( Any solid information would be appriciated.:dontknow:

Bummer. I'm not sure if I've really heard of anyone actually having received one of these? I think he's a sponsor of the other forum - perhaps check there?

Your visa should back you up on the purchase and get your money back for you. I had problems with F1 and Marcel also -- had to go thru Visa to get anything done. That sounds like a lot of $$$. Maybe just get the fairing and then go with Corbin bags?
 
Check our Spydertalk.com. There was a recent thread there regarding this issue and a few posts from Marcel. Lots of people unhappy it appears. Sorry to say, I would get my money back from him ASAP.

Sorry to hear you have not received your package yet. A question for you YPilot. What did Marcel say during the several phone calls and few conversations you had with him?
 
I believe he is in my backyard, so to speak, Sounds like an excuse to go for a ride.
I would be happy to do a shop visit in the next week or so and see what's up.
I will not say anything or create a confrontation. I will however put some eyes on it report what I see.

The last time I spoke to Marcel he told me he had been sick and away for a couple of months. He then told me that he had six units on his workbench doing the final wiring and that mine was one of them. It was supposed to be finished that week or early the next week and I would get a call from his wife with shipping details. 3 weeks ago! I believe he is a reputable dealer so I give him the benefit.:pray: Besides it's snowing sideways!:yikes:
 
Come oooon fairing!

Sure hope you get it ASAP! Please keep us up to speed. I've been considering buying another windshield from Marcel. Had good luck with my first purchase from him. Bought a EvoIII slider in Nov. 08.
 
Call from F1

I recieved a good news phone call today. Marcel phoned to tell me that my fairing was ready to go after an addition of a 2-3 inch black vinal strip to the bottom of the windshield to hide the gadgets (gps mounts,cup holders etc.) from the front view. :pray: These may not noticed with a smoked shield but I wanted clear as we do alot of night riding.
Has anyone on this forum ordered and/or received this fairing yet? Mine was #196 so there should be some out there.

You should not have confidence in the Marcel July products. I received an adjustable windshield from him that had an upper part with so much optical distortion that it is not usable. After no reply to 6 phone calls and 8 emails asking for a replacement I gave up the ship and figured it just another unreliable supplier and $400 down the drain. He is a very unreliable supplier. I'm sure he doesn't make helicopter windshields as he claims.

I really don't know what to think. I've been promised delivery a few times but I will remain optimistic for now. I still haven't heard of another owner taking delivery of the mantis.
 
I have no dealings but many here deal with ESI/Evan, Kewlmetal, Ride-On (still have to put mine in), gloryders, and other merchants and we just don't see complaints of any kind.

There do seem to be a good amount of threads with problems with this company and that is a little disconcerting. You would think that with such a small community and active owners that all merchants would go out of their way to make each purchase a good experience!

My hat is still off to Evan...he is ALWAYS there if anyone has a problem...and trust me, I've needed major help at times!
