• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I finally flew the coop !

I sold my Spyder. I may have lost $18 for each mile I drove it but after almost getting killed by it, I could no longer enjoy riding the thing. Since the steering episode my wife wouldn't ride with me and would always try to talk me out of using it. I'm a real fuss budget with all my toys and I refused to let it stand outside in my dealers unpaved dirt lot while they would be doing major experimental surgery and part swapping. I could no longer wait for BRP to figure out and maybe solve the numerous problems plaguing these vehicles. I like the ideas behind the Spyder's design and someday I hope someone will get the design right. I sold my Spyder to a dealer for export out of the US. where it will be used as a research vehicle by a major manufacturer intent on improving on the design and execution of the concept. With any luck there may be an alternative choice available in the not too distant future. I will be one of the first in line to purchase it when it becomes available !

I enjoyed visiting this forum and talking with all the interesting people here. Without forums like this one, word would have never gotten out regarding the various issues Spyder owners might be facing. None of the owners concerns would ever make for reading on the manufacturers site where every thing is sugar and spice and all things nice !

Somewhat like going to the family reunion of your Ex wife and explaining the reasons for the divorce. Some will be happy to see you, others will be glad to see you go.

Not good enough to just stop posting here, you need to throw a few arrows.

Without trendsetters and innovators, we'd still be on horseback.

Sorry to see you go, but totally understand. Sometimes you just have to call it done and move on.

Please tell us you were joking about the 'export for research' part though..... pretty sure BRP wouldn't be to happy with your dealer if that's really the case. Any major player in the market already has a Spyder to play with I'm sure.

Good luck--- post back with pics of whatever you end up buying (guessing it won't have power steering..... ;) )

It's true that BRP wouldn't be happy for one of their dealers to sell one of their products and ship it overseas to be "studied" or whatever. That's why they won't let any of their franchised dealers ship overseas. The dealer who purchased my bike has nothing to do with BRP and the bike will be shipped out of the country as I said. No joke !

Ahhhh. Makes more sense now.

I'll be posting photos of the bikes that shared my garage with the Spyder along with what I purchased to take it's place for 2 up riding !

Anything like those Chinese knock-offs that Magic Man posted pictures of? I would think that is one of the only places that would not be impacted by patent infringement. :dontknow:

Cool...if it's a tri-glide like roaddog, then you'll have to add some of Evan's goodies so that we can distinguish them...hehe!

Sorry to hear you let the Spyder go, but your reasons for doing so are understandable. Good luck with your next ride.

Please tell me it wasn't Toyota....:yikes:

Well, here is a photo of what I just purchased (actually on Dec 24 th) to replace my Spyder for 2 up riding. It's a new leftover 2009. The hard top folds making it into a roadster for that wind in the hair feeling. It does have all the nannies the Spyder had and then some....but hopefully they will behave themselves !

Here are my other rides for solo use..........2008 Yamaha Raider S and 2008 Suzuki GSX 650F sport bike. So far not a bit of trouble with either one. (knock on wood )

Congrats on the Spyder sale.

I seriously looked at the 500SLs not long ago... folding hardtop and all. I did some research on reliability and decided against it due to the number of reports of problems with roof sensors, micro-switches, etc.

Good luck with yours!
