• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. New Update to BRP GO! app - April 2024

It astounds me that BRP are still “improving” the Go app. I would have thought that would have stopped once they came out with the new ACP console. (The new, less than perfect, ACP console:roflblack:)

Are they replacing the pre-24 models with something new?

Not that I am aware of, mbranscum. BRP Go (or is it BRP Connect? I’ve lost track which one was first, and which is current ;) ) is the interface for the '23 and earlier. It is good to see they are still upgrading it. Although many, like me, have given it away as a bad joke and are simply using something like Garmin XT or our phones as the interface for GPS, FOBO, Weather, Music etc.
Mind you, some have BRP Go (Connect?) working perfectly for them.

I sure hope this upgrade does something to make BRP Go work better! It's a source of constant frustration, one day it works pretty good; the next day it freezes up & won't connect! So frustrating!!
Has anybody found a trick to successfully use this app??

I think sequence of connection, I turn on helmet wait for it to connect to phone then turn on bike and all is well

I know that this is an older thread, but after searching, I decided to post in this one instead of creating a new thread.

Has anyone noticed that for the last 4 or 5 consecutive days that the BRP Go app has been updating from the app store?

In the past it's been a bit out of the norm for this app to update but then 5 updates in a row? Strange.

Anyone know what's up?

I pulled it up on in the App Store on my iPhone. It shows Version 5.1.0 and says the latest update has bug fixes and performance improvement.

If you click on "What's New >" it shows a list of updates going back over a year, with a brief statement about each update.
Warning: most of the updates just say "bug fixes and performance improvements".

Yup, I saw that. I'm just saying that so many updates in a row is super unusual for BRP. It makes me think that each of these updates may have been buggy and then they needed another update to address the previous bugs.

I've not used BRP Go in a while, so I have no idea what's going on, just curious to see if others have noticed this.

I see 7 updates in 9 months since the release of version 4.0.1, 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 mention a new look, and 4.1.1 mentions new custom waypoint function, and 4.1.3 mentions On Road Navigation for the 10.25" displays.

All of the updates mention bug fixes and performance improvements.

Personally, if I owned a bike that used the BRP GO!/BRP Connect architecture I'd be happy that they are actively working to make it better and fix problems with it.

But then I'm retired IT guy who spent a significant portion of my career writing custom software fixes and enhancements for clients.

You seem to be missing my point. I didn't say that I was unhappy with the updates. I'm just saying that so many updates on consecutive days is unusual, in my limited observations.

As you well know, normally an update addresses some perceived/actual issue with the program. Updates on consecutive days indicates to me that new bugs were discovered in the previous update(s). I was just curious to know if anyone knows firsthand what those issues were.

No big deal, just wondering.

CAN-AM is not going to provide the level of detail you want.

Even if you encounter a problem and report it to them, the only likely response will be something like "we fixed that in version X.X, please have your dealer update your bike".

We were talking about app updates, not the Spyder's firmware updates.

Good point, but the same message.

Any complaint to CAN-AM will tell you to update to the latest version, Whether that's the BRP GO! app on your phone, or the BRP Connect software on your bike.

I've noticed that with some apps on my Android phone. An app update with new features, then another update the next day, and then another the following day. They use us as unwitting beta testers.

I don't have enough history with BRP Go! to know if that is unusual.

I’m not waiting for an iPhone update, I’m waiting for a user interface rewrite. A Mac or web version would be nice so you can plan routes etc on something larger than a phone. Even the iPad version is just the iPhone version centered in the screen.

At the moment it is map coordinate waypoint centric. I’d rather they allowed you to swap it to be address centric. Most people don’t plan routes on a road going vehicle based upon waypoints.

Apple Maps and Google Maps are hardly the easiest user interfaces in the world, but BRP Go!, I’m sorry, it is just back where we were 15 years ago. In fact my ten year old Garmin is 10 times easier to use.

BRP, you could have done better. I’m sure if you had released this as a Beta test, the feedback would have unanimously that the whole UI is clumsy and far from intuitive. The 10.25” display is nicely done, so how come the app is so poorly implemented. The native map system in my 10 year old Range Rover is better; and it has a better implementation of CarPlay too, and that interface was old even then.

Perhaps this will help with creating routes...

With my 2024 Spyder RT I use the Google Maps app on my desktop computer to plan routes, since it supports drag and drop changes to a route, then send the route to my iPhone. Once the iPhone is connected to my Spyder the route will be available through CarPlay. I can also use it with my Honda Ridgeline truck, which also supports Apple CarPlay.
