I remember having a conversation with my father about college and choosing what program to select for my studies.
He said something similar to the Mark Twain quote:

Do what you love, the money will follow.

I know there was a book published in 1987 with that as a title, but the discussion with my dad happened around 1975.

Confucius obviously said that way before the conversation with my dad!

Confucius may not have even said that. A lot of things got attributed to him that he didn't say.
Some of it may be confusion in the translation, but some of it just not found in his writings.

A lot of the ancient philosophers were like that. Sayings got attributed to them, that can't be found in any of their know written work.

My brain went Kung Fu for a moment (the original TV series), and thought:

And then my brain went bonkers and started wondering if your full name was Grasshopperwolf, or Grasswolf, or some other absurd name.
