Indian is getting into the trike business.

Indian Motorcycle CEO Mike Kennedy said this week. "Our immediate focus is going to be on middle and heavyweight cruisers, baggers, touring, and soon to be, trikes." Harley clones, I presume. This will certainly raise the overall stature of trikes in the motorcycle industry. Interestingly, I think he once worked for BRP many years ago. I imagine other companies may be considering the same idea. Overall, I think it will be good for the Spyder business. The next few years will be interesting

About 20 years ago. I don't think it had anything to do with Spyders. Evinrude I think. Also with Vance and Hines and Buell.

Well at least with your feet inside the "bed" one will not put their foot down like we only had happen once on the old ATC 90 Honda and had the rear tire claw at your foot and ankle.

Historically it's a rather disappointing story as I remember my father who was born in Springfield, MA telling me as a youngster about them being manufactured in his hometown. The local corner store where I lived as a kid in New London, CT after WWII had an employee who rode an Indian. It's unfortunate the brand has been unable to competitively survive long-term as an alternative to Harley in the American economy.

'Getting Into?' Indian started making trikes in 1931!

They do make some beautiful machines! Though I have not ridden any.

I've often wondered if BMW might someday make a reverse trike. They made the Isetta post WW2 so they aren't unfamiliar with the design.

They did! I'm not sure it got past the prototype stage into production. But there were several of them around some years ago. Very expensive.

Well Polaris is another snowmobile company trying to make motor bikes. They killed the best one they had.
