I switched from two wheels (Honda Goldwing) to three (Spyder RT) four years ago and have never regretted doing so. Other than a bad sensor and a problem opening a side case, the RT has served me reliably. I don't plan on buying a new ride anytime soon, but was thinking about what else might be available on the market that is similar to the Spyder, and hopefully made in the USA in case the tariff situation gets worse for us to buy Canadian made goods. Other than some custom shops, I have yet to find anything really comparable. Regular trikes have no appeal to me. I tried a new Harley Triglide and thought it far inferior in ride and handling as compared to my Spyder. The Vanderhall, with its steering wheel and side by side seating, and its huge price tag, is not even close. And don't even mention the Slingshot which is a totally different vehicle that has little appeal to me. So I guess that when I feel the need to get a new bike, if I am still alive and still riding, my only real choice is another Spyder.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.
There really are no alternatives to the Can Am reverse trikes

There is another reverse trike out there. It is called the T-Rex. It is also made in Canada. It has a steering wheel that you have to take off like in a race car to get in or out. It sits lower than the Spyder and has been rated as the fastest of the reverse trikes. There is now a local dealership that now carries it. Their current list price is $73,000. For that amount, you can get 2 Spyders.

Yes, you could get 2 Spyders for the price, but the T-Rex is currently powered by the engine and transmission of 1441 cc Kawasaki in line 4 that is putting out 208 HP, and that red lines at 11,000 revs - to a 6 speed manual, You should take a change of underwear for your first ride on that dinosaur.

I often hear people say that a convertible is their next step, but that really is a totally different experience. I have a Mini Cooper convertible, with a 6 speed manual transmission. It is a fun car to drive, and a real pleasure when the weather is just right. But it is nothing even remotely like riding a motorcycle, and that includes the Spyder. Despite steering rather than leaning, the Spyder is a motorcycle, and nothing is really like it. Maybe its the handlebars rather than a wheel, and of course a big part is that you are on a vehicle, not in it. I switched from 2 to 3 wheels as a concession to age. At 78 (4 years ago) I had to admit that the 920 pound Goldwing was just too much for me to safely handle anymore. But I think that I should be able to ride the Spyder for as long as I can drive a car, or at least I hope so.
Before I bought my Spyder, in 2021, I looked into converting my Goldwing into a trike. It would have been a conventional trike, not a reverse trike. The cost would have been around $18,000 whereas I was able to trade in my 5 year old Goldwing plus $10,000 cash for a new Spyder. As much as I liked my Goldwing, I was ready for something new and the Spyder met that need. I have never missed the manual trans and need for a clutch lever and really appreciate the semi-auto trans on my Spyder. At that time, I never even heard of a reverse trike kit available anywhere.

We went down that road with a Hannigan Reverse trike kit to our 2005 Goldwing and after 7 years, the front end play got to be a problem and the factory was of little help as the sourced parts were not available to replace and so we bought a new Spyder....
Should we have bought a Spyder back then? Maybe. We have enjoyed what we had and kept it for an additional 7 ish years after triking it, and knew our next one would be a reverse design.

We sold our 2014 Spyder RTS manual shift for a Slingshot a couple or so months ago. We simply wanted to hold hands going down the road. It is also manual shift. (It shifts like an Italian sports car!)
She also drives it and loves it!

I will admit that the Slingshot looks really Cool!
At my age, after a 100 mile ride I would need a "cherry picker" to get me out of it.
Same goes for all the other low slung sports cars.
I will stick with my Spyder RTL,

The thing about the T-Rex is that it is a three wheeled car (you sit in a seat, side-by-side, and use a steering wheel), not a three wheeled motorcycle.
Nothing wrong with that, but not at all like a Spyder aside from the wheel count and the legal definition similarities.
