Has this Clutch Late Lockup always been there???

I have only had my 2024 RTL for a total of 2300 miles and lately, when two up riding, I have noticed what feels like a delayed lock up of the clutch that only occurs in first gear. What I mean by delayed lock up is as you add throttle from a dead stop in first gear, the bike starts to move and accelerate, but then there is a noticeable grab that occurs within a few feet of travel, and then everything is fine until you stop again. It feels like it is slipping a bit, then it locks up and never slips again. Has this always been there? I don't recall it, but then I am a newbie.

Are you sure it is not the engine surging? Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, mine bucks when I first take off. It never dies and once it warms up slightly, it never does this anymore. I think it is the computer searching for a solution for a cold engine. Back in the day, you had to play with the manual choke to make it run smoothly!

I believe that what is being asked is the slow engagement of the clutch when pulling out from a dead stop. When you twist the throttle the clutch does take a second or two to fully engage. But it doesn't seem to be a case of the clutch actually slipping but just the way it engages. I believe this to be fairly normal.

That is kind of what I was thinking since it is not related to a cold engine and it always does it from a dead stop, every time. Must be normal.

The ECU has to engage the clutch gradually to smooth the starts and prevent stalling the engine.
I suspect what you're feeling is this normal brief slippage of the clutch as it's engaging.

What are you running for oil? And what grade of gas do you like to run? Mine does that little shudder thing when it's cold, but it doesn't seem to be there after a warm up. I am going to change my oil over to Amsoil this season; I ran it in my last RT and I can't wait to see if it will change some things this bike is doing that my old one wasn't!

What you're describing sounds fairly normal for the newer bikes. My 2020 is more prominent than my old 2014 for whatever reason(s). I suspect it has to do with engine management tuning, since the newer bikes have to meet ever more restrictive smog standards.

Whatever oil BRP put in it when they built it, as I have not even had my first service yet.
