• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Random thought for the day

It has to be "they" - if it was 'we', then 'we' would be over 100 years old!

Hindsight is always 20/20

Gwolf did not say that. Carl Sagan said that, and it was clearly credited to him.
I dunno that '...is always...' is quite correct there - that implies that you can always see perfectly in hindsight, which is patently not always true!! 😣

I've met more'n just 'a few' people who would have difficulty achieving 20/2000 vision in hindsight on anything, cos they were just sooo bloody oblivious to the possibility that they might actually learn ANYTHING from looking back on their own or anyone else's experiences!! The sad news is, most of them were supposed 'leaders' &/or in leadership roles!! 😖

The saying/s I've heard used more often, and used myself, are:

"It's easy to have 20/20 vision in hindsight!" or
"It’s easy to be wise after the event!"

Both of which imply that you might be more able to clearly see some important things that you might have missed in the heat of the moment when you're looking back on them.

Just Sayin' ;)

Yes, that is true... The old saying did not take into consideration that there are some people who keep making the same mistakes over and over. It could also be that those people simply do not look back into their own past, or maybe they looked without seeing.

It is one of those sayings that everyone has heard all their life, and never thought about it not being true at all. I'm pretty sure it is not the only old saying like that.

But then, there is also Seward's Folly... where the people laughted at Secretary of State William Seward for buying Alaska from Russia! Then, not so many years later, enough gold was mined there that the people stopped laughing. Some of the people did not have hindsight right away, but they soon found it.

What I miss is the little triangular fold out vent windows in front of the door glass. You could even open them when it was raining hard, long as you was moving. Got fresh air in the cab of the truck, summer or winter, and they deflected the wind blast if you rode with the window down.
