Since putting a deposit down on Dec 16th 2009 at Del Amo Motorsports , I have been trying to gain as much knowledge
as possible, and this forum has probably been the most helpful.
So Thank You to all that contribute, including the T-shirt guy Mark@CAT (gotta have one)
I made my own practice cones and arranged them in the intended patterns to maneuver.
I have researched the riding gear, I took and passed the
California Motorcyclist Safety Program and DMV test.
And when I am unable to practice i try to imagine
being on the highway on the spyder and driving
more defensively with my surroundings.
I downloaded the owners manual and printed it out.
When the dealership finally got there Demo RTS SM5
in I updated the time and radio stations,on their
RT and would constantly read the threads in here
for info. I thought at first the demo had bad latches
on the hard cases and learned that because they
are water tight , how to properly close so the
warning message wouldn't appear on the display.
When I was at the motorcycle show I saw many
people not get on the RT properly ( they would
scuff the seat with their shoe ) so I probably over
exaggerate, gotta get me on you tube doing that
The 20 pages that BRP devoted to "practice riding" in the
Owners manual, everyone who is waiting for their baby
to come in should print it out and read. It helps time pass
by more quickly, I sometimes fall asleep reading the manual or brochures and dream of the SPYDER! (is that normal) :shocked:
I have done the 10 pages devoted to the SM5, 3
times for 1 1/2 hours each outing in a huge deserted
parking lot. And once my SE5 comes in I will practice
at least an hour with clutch-less shifting before
heading the 13 miles home from the dealership.
Next week if it is not raining I plan on taking the
demo out in light traffic.
I tried to learn as much about what options I would want
, always difficult when I have no history. I ordered the GPS,
CB communication and even though I didn't renew my XM
on both my cars, I figured here I would get it installed.
I plan on getting the Can-Am Helmets once the dealership
has one's i can try on. But for now I obtained a very
comfortable Nolan helmet where the Full face also detaches.

The one thing I am not sure of is getting the trailer and will wait till after talking with other people who tow when they go.
The temperature was 72 with partly cloudy blue skies...the next 5 days we are expecting rain :gaah:
I read on another site where you can at least find out if a unit is being shipped, and my Sales mgr checked and said it is leaving BRP in January, he just doesn't know when.
