• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Need to replace 2013 left lower side panel - can't get my Lava Bronze color, only Black. Any suggestions?

Hi, I'm new at posting here, I haven't posted since before I got my 2013 Spyder RT Limited. My left front side panel just fell off somewhere here in Arizona on my way to meet up to help with the Patriot Guard Riders on an Honor Mission. It's the panel that is where the oil dipstick is. The dealer here got one in, but I guess Can Am or BRP, whoever, superseded my ordered color, which is called Lava Bronze or something like that. It's brown. They superseded it with a black one, I guess they don't do colors anymore? Anyway, does anybody on here have a suggestion for this? Since they are plastic, can they be painted?
Also, I am lost when it comes to navigating this site. Is there a place for newbies? Even though I was on here in 2020, it all seems to have changed. I wanted to try to get a pic of my Spyder on here in my profile, but I can't figure out how to do that. I'm just glad I figured out how to update my profile, and I'm still not sure how I got to my account. 😆
Anyway, I know you are all so helpful and I hope to hear back something. Supposedly, there is a dealer with my color in MN but it is in a pile of parts that are piled up on a pallet out in back of their shop and they don't know when they will get around to looking for it. Great, right? It's probably under snow so probably not until spring, and I can't ryde with that area on the bike so wide open, I'm not comfortable with that. Thanks again everybody!!

Tell us which Dealer and maybe some MN Spyderlovers can be allowed to take a look, but any autobody shop should be able to color match your Spyder's color and paint the black part.

You might try canampartshouse; I have ordered 2014 RSS parts from them. I'm not sure exactly what panel you need, but they do list Bronze for some 2013 RT Limited panels.

Thanks for your suggestion. Well, I guess this place is called Extreme Motorsports in Moorhead MN and it sounds like they mostly do Ebay parts on-line. At least, that's what I got from their website. My parts guy here called Moorhead Marine which is who showed up for that LH Lateral Side Panel (the only place that showed up) under Dealer Parts Locator. Their inventory was sold to Extreme Motorsports, which is what I guess Extreme does - gets parts and then resells them on Ebay or whatever. I went ahead and picked up the black one that came in to my Parts department because I don't want to keep it all exposed like that. They gave me a break on price - supposedly at his cost so... I have things I have to attend here on my Spyder and it looked terrible open like that. I may paint it at some point. I have seen several suggestions on here for paint, so I may do that. I do appreciate your suggestion very much so. Thank you!

Thank you. I just checked. The part came up, but then it did the same as what it did for my dealer - superseded the part number for Bronze with "Bare", which is what I got here - black. I appreciate your help though very much. My ex-husband did most of the Spyder research stuff for me, so it's just more stuff that I have to re-learn now that he's gone. Thanks again.

Try Ebay for a used one. I had to replace a fender and used one from there. I also had to buy another one later, but couldn't find one in Lava Bronze, so I bought a Silver one and painted it with paint from:

https://scratcheshappen.com/touch-u...nd=79&paint_year=2013&paint_model=1228#colors.

Sanded it, primed it, painted it, and then put on a Clear coat.
Thanks for that. I'll check there. It may be above my pay grade to do all this painting and priming, etc, but I will check it out. I don't think this is something my ex-husband would be willing to do for me, although he has been helpful with showing me the things I have to do to keep this place running. Probably doesn't extend to the Spyder though. Oh well, small price for peace and serenity. 😌

If the color doesn't clash, you could consider replacing both panels with black.
However, I do know the cost of these parts is pretty high, for some inexplicable reason.
It may be easier to find used panels in black on eBay.

Another option, would be to take both left and right side panels to a wrap shop, and have them both wrapped in a custom matching color that would accent the rest of the bike, or a Bronze Carbon fiber or something. This might be cheaper than painting one side.

For what it's worth I wanted to match the color of my spyder and had a he!! of a time doing it trying to use liquid paint. Finally, I went to a shop that specialized in wraps. Within 15 minutes they matched my spyder's cognac color exactly.

Wow, I never thought of that. That is actually a pretty good idea. I put the black one on and 2 of the guys I pointed it out to didn't even notice it was black. But, more guys are color-blind than women, right? But that's okay, it really doesn't look horrible, right? I may go ahead and get another black one for the right side. I was just glad it was on there and hiding the open compartment for the funeral procession I was in. Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

Spyder Lovers are awesome (and super helpful as all get out!!)

I would definitely go with both covers black. A friend of mine with a 2013 did it and I think it looks great. Probably need to protect the plastic in some way ( paint, wrap or clear).
