How can I remove Kostal ECM Connectors??

2011 RSS. My injectors don't work and the manual lists one of the troubleshooting items is to check continuity between the injector and "A" connector on the ECM. My problem is that I can't figure out how to remove the Kostal connecter, and the manual doesn't address it. Obviously, I don't want to damage the ECM and/or connector. Can someone help me out? I tried to load a picture of the connectors, but the file is too large, and I don't know how to resize it. Thanx. (BTW, I pulled the fuel tank out of my Wife's 2013 RT today to replace the fuel pump, miserable job.)

I don't have a pic of those plugs either, but have you tried using the 'Attach Files' link that should appear below the text field of your new or edited post to add a pic that's already stored on your device?? If you do that, and then select the 'Load as Thumbnail' option (which should ALWAYS be your preferred option for uploading pics! ) it should automatically re-size the image and allow you to load it here.

That said, if you're talking about the large black multi wire plugs on the ECM, those plugs have a 'double ended cam-lock with lever' type lock on the connector, with a tiny little tab in the middle of the bar that links each of the cam-lock ends - IIRC, you'll need to press that IN before you can move the lever that'll release the cam-locks on each end of the plug and allow you to pull the plug off. Make sense??

Thanx Peter, I saw that information when I looked up the connectors on Google, but the connectors looked different from mine, is this the same connector you are referring to? They look different than the cam lock type I saw on Google...

Hmm, your pic has come up with an odd appearance, as if it's got a filter on it to make it look (poorly) computer generated, so it's pretty hard to see the cam-lock bits, but I think they're the connectors?! Can you see a cam-lock on any side/end of them anywhere?? The 'digitising' filter or whatever really doesn't allow me to see anything but broad shapes!

Sorry about the picture quality, I found an online photo resizer and that's what I ended up with... What I have doesn't look like the cam lock connectors that apparently are used on newer models... I'll try to resize with better quality...

Did you try loading the pic as a thumbnail?? That should retain the quality, but we're all learning this new platform here...

That said, from your last pic, it does look like there's a locking thingie (highly technical term there! ) on the lower end of those plugs - but I still can't see enough detail to help specifically. Can you see a tiny tab down there, not any larger than the smiley above, that looks like you can press it in??

Sometimes a mirror & your phone camera together can come up with some pics that not even the human eye can behold! Good Luck,

You wanta try to actually remove a 2013 RT ECU out of its little hidey hole without removing half of the engine intake/exhaust &/or resorting to using a reciprocating saw in there!

I couldn't believe how hard it was to get the fuel tank out of my Wife's '13 RT... Too bad one has to pull the tank to replace the fuel pump in the first place... I'm not an engineer, but I could have designed the critter to be more mechanic friendly...

Like Peter said there's two locking tabs on both sides of the housing you have to press while pulling up on the lever, it should roll up and unlock the plug assembly, then when you want to put it back reverse your steps! Good luck!!!

I found the two tabs and I'm to this point... The door is open, but no joy removing the connector from the ECM... Ugh... Maybe Santa will bring me some dynamite...

Aha!... I figured it out!... Pull down on the thingy (tech term) at the base of the connector and presto, disconnected connector...

More fun... Without paying Mr. Rotax $175. for the special tool, how do I determine the pin numbers on the connector?... I was hoping for embossed numbers on the plug, but no joy...

Just a shot in the dark but could you trace it back from the injectors by color code to the male end of that plug!! Just a stab!! Good luck, wish I had a schematic for you. Sorry
