• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any way to add Sig line photos on the New Forum platform?

Is there a way to add a picture to your sig line by uploading directly from ones computer. I do not seem to be able to find it.

Still looking into it, but I don't think any resulting method will be '...by uploading directly from ones computer. ...'

However, I think that the 'link to a pic on a photo hosting site' method might work, and if it does, it'll probably be the only way you can do it - but it looks like you'll need to re-size whatever pic down to something quite small first! If it's any bigger (physically) than saaay, that Map Stalky has loaded; or anything bigger (in data size) than a nnn kB size, then I can't get anything to show.

So far, I've managed to link a few 'apparently small-ish' pics; only they've had a 9 as that first 'n' in the nnn kB size, and while they appear to have loaded, they just don't display. 😖 Now that could be due to something on my device, or maybe it's the way I'm biting my tongue as I upload them; but the end result is that they don't show, so I'm still playing around with trying to find something that works (in my spare time...) ;)

Hang in there, and I'll tell everyone when I find a method that works. (y)

Just a note, the photo of the map in my signature is 21 KB.

And it's probably as big in physical size as you'd want to make any sig line image &/or any signature field in total; the pic is a jpeg hosted on i.imgur; and if you do want to keep your signature field within reason so that ALL others can view it without having to scroll or just give up on reading any thread that you ever post in, then no more than a max of about 6 lines of text with one pic; or map; somewhat less if you want more than 1 pic/image/map in your sig line; and if you are prepared to give up all your sig text, definitely no more than 3-4 pics/images of that ^ size! ;)

If you feel the need to put more than that in your sig line/field, either wait until we get the Spyder Garage sorted, or start a 'My Ride - my Yr/Model Spyder/Ryker' thread in the appropriate Spyder or Ryker General Discussion forums. (y)

I looked into putting a signature line on the post and it seems this format either does not support linking to pictures or that option was turned off by the installer. The normal HTML5 coding options also are either not installed or turned off.

However, the options available in the signature update which you will find by clicking your sign in name (top right of the page) do work.

You are able place a quotation on the signature line by typing it in, and you can also manipulate the position (left, center, or right) using the controls in the signature box.

It might be possible to use the HTML5 codeing or some form of linkage if you strictly stick to what is available in the signature update box.

I have other things to work on right now, but when I get some time I will try some of the other options.

I have placed a small quotation, center on the signature line of my post that appears any time I save a post. That much will work just using what is available in the signature box to manipulate the text typed in. It will put a link to a picture on the signature line also, but it is only the text link and must be clicked to show the picture. Should be a way using the coding in the signature box to make an image appear, but have not had time to look into that.

Further changes made using only the oprions available in the signature update box show that you can change the text size and color also.

There is a huge number, looks like hundreds, of smileys available in the sig update box and they will also resize using the sig box coding.

It is also possible to toggle to BB code instead of the options line for the post text area.

HI Stalky TRacker,

How did you add your photo of your map on your signature?
Deanna

I uploaded the photo to my account on a photo sharing site. In this case, Imgur. After uploading the photo I was able to get the link info (http ... stuff) from the sharing site. I pasted link in the box provided by clicking on the "Insert image (Ctrl+P)" icon (looks like a tiny picture, to the left of the smiley). Then saved.

Hope that helps. If not holler.

Did not seem to work. now I have junk at the bottom of my signature that I can not delete.

So I created an account on postimage.org and upload a small image file and used "hotlink for forums" to paste into sig line. On the postimage.org upload page I choose 320x240(for Web page and email)

Stalky Tracker,

I didn't save the map that was on my sig. on any of my posts. Where do I get the map, so I can add it to my sig?

Which site should I use for getting the map?
