• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How to check Throttle position sensor? Will a new TPS work without calibration?

My Spyder does not respond to throttle movements. I bet on the throttle position sensor, catalog number 420274095. I intend to replace it because it may have gotten damp. Two questions: How can I check if the sensor is working; and, if I replace it with a new one, will it work without calibration?

No, it requires calibration / adaptation with BUDS if it has been loosened, removed, or replaced. It is tucked up under the air box down on throttle body. You have to try REALLY hard to get it wet. Are you sure that is the sensor you are talking about? You really should pull up the fault codes to be sure about this. Do it with the engine running in order to be sure thay are active.

We’re talking about your ST, correct? Press the Mode button, Set button, and Turn Signal button straight in, all simultaneously. Codes will appear on the center LCD display.

Yes, it's a Spyder ST. Thanks, I'll check today. What code will be likely in case of a damaged TSP? Is it possible to easily erase/delete error codes that appear on the LCD?

Thats a fly by wire system, I don't have a clue, but I would say that whatever it is, if parts are needed then you're going to have to put BUDS on it to calibrate. :dontknow: What year is it?? Is it still under warranty?

So, you don't have any throttle response at all. I trust that you have done the basics and checked all the fuses, and made sure the electrical connectors are dry and plugged in.

There is a Throttle Acceleration Sensor in your twist grip on the handlebar, that sends the command of how much throttle you want.

There is a Throttle Position Sensor on the Throttle Body that tells the computer how much throttle there actually is.

And there is the Throttle Body Positioner that actually operates the throttle body itself, as well as other electronics that operate the fuel injectors. And then there is the ECM that runs the whole thing.

Calling up the codes helps you to identify which component has actually failed. The code will be just 5 characters, beginning with the letter P or C. They will display on the LCD screen for 20 to 30 seconds, or something like that. So, be ready to write them down or take a picture with your phone. The LCD screen will then change back to the normal driving display by itself. The codes, however, will still exist and be active in the computer system until you actually fix the problem. You can call them up again if you need to. Post the codes on here, and me or someone else that's available can look them up for you.

As said before, if it is the TPS, you will need BUDS to do the calibration. But let's find out the actual problem first. There’s far too many codes to list all the possibilities. Just cross your fingers that it isn’t P1614.

I checked the codes with the button combination: P2620; P1614; P1120; P2621; P212C. They all seem to point to TPS... What do you think about this?

Well, it certainly looks like you've killed your TPS. Even though I'm very curious, I won't ask you to explain how you did that and why you were so sure from the beginning.

Anyway, I think any tech would recommend that you replace your TPS; or perhaps try the reset first, and after that, hopefully the P1614 code will resolve itself. As said before, after you replace your TPS, you'll need to do a reset in BUDS. I think the TPS is around $80 US. You need to find a dealer with BUDS, or a private shop with BUDS to do the reset. It's not going to work properly without it. See attached.
