Hey All, quick story how I got here.
I'm retired from the Tech Industry, and partially funding said retirement as a part-time motorcycle riding instructor. Been on 2 wheels since I was 12, and sharing this passion as (somewhat) gainful employment is absolutely wonderful!
I took the 4hr Can-Am-centric Intro riding course some years ago.
Earlier this year, I underwent a hip replacement and in an Oxy-induced state, started checking out Harley trikes. At the time I owned 3 Harley's and a BMW GS. I figured at some point, >2 wheels was going to be a reality for me. Well, post recovery from the hip, I went and bought a 2023 TriGlide. (Stay with me, I'll get back on track here in a second...)
Part of maintaining my MC Instructor certification is taking "Continuing Education". Every two years, we need to take a course of some sort that improves us as riders, or instructors. This licensing cycle, the 3-Wheel Instructor course came up close to me in Sacramento. Signed up, went, it was a blast> Yes, I'm now certified to teach 3-wheel classes, and yes the training was all on Can-Ams. (If the system will let me post pics as part of my first post, I'll share some).
Anyway, after working for 5 days on Spyders and Rykers, I'v come to realize that my 2023 TriGlide, while a marvelous example of 20th Century American Industry, does in fact drive like my 20-year old Ford F350 compared to the Spyders. So.... now what to do. Dang Tri isn't paid for, wife the pillion spot. Don't even have 5K miles on it yet, drat!
Well, to scratch the "Spyder Itch" I figured I'd sign up here and lurk. A lot.
I still have the BMW GS that I told my wife I was going to sell to pay a chunk of the Tri. But.... maybe I could work the GS into a used Spyder (wheels in head turning). But really, I don't know what's gonna happen. The other three 2-wheel bikes are absolutely off the table in terms of trade fodder. I may be riding a Tri wishing I was on an F3, I may sell the GS and find a used RT, I may decide I'm still young enough to muscle the Tri up a mountain hill, and a Spyder is an "interesting vehicle" that I get to teach on once in awhile. Who Knows?
But I thought I'd start here.
So that's my story. If anyone in the Sacramento/San Joaquin area needs a certified 3-wheel instructor, I can help there, that I know.
Looking forward to learning here, what they did NOT have us learn in Instructor School - haha. Maybe I'll end up with two 3-wheelers in the garage anyway.
Thanks for reading my rather dry and self-serving post.
Now, for those pics....
