Clearing up my Shad questions… what do I need for my F3?

Hello everyone, I want to clear up some of my confusion on the Shad Saddle Bags. I believe I must get part number 219400728 to mount to my F3 base. But do I have to get the CanAm Shad SH36 Bags? Or can I get the SH36 bags from Shad and use them with the CanAm mount? I like the sleeker look of the non-CanAm version better. Meaning the bump out red reflector.

I’m also looking at getting the SH58X for a top case mount. Will the Shad bags come with a third lock to make them all the same?

Thanks for any clearing up you all may provide.

BRP sells the Shad mount and the SH36 bags. I bought both, so don’t know if you can use the Can-Am mount. Bike looks ok with BRP mounts, in my opinion. Sorry, image is reversed.

I am probably going to buy the SH58X top case as well. There was a bag of parts with the SH36 bags, I will check for a third lock.

Yea, I’d buy the mount from CanAm, their site says the part number that I put on the first post. But I like the look of the SH36 Saddle Bags that are not the ones that “are made for Can Am.” I think I can order the BRP Mount and discard the red reflector attachments and buy the SH36 from Shad’s site, buuut??

I’d also like to point out that the reason I’m looking at the SH58X is because 1. it expands; but 2. I don’t have to have the rear back rest on since I’m planning on keeping my mono cowl on the bike.

I've got the 36l Shad bags, with the brp mounting bracket. My bracket came with the large side reflectors ( which I didn't Install). I believe it's the only bracket for the bags. I didn't really like the Big side reflector, and my Instructions didn't come with a template to drill the extra holes to mount that reflector. You can remove the Shad logo insert (2 screws), and then attach the reflectors using those same 2 holes, but the reflectors have like 5 mounting boses on the back side, and there is no way to know how to properly line them up. And you would have to drill Into the bag. I could have put some chalk on the backside boses, and then position the reflector, and then drill where the chalk mark was, but I liked the clean look of just the Shad logo. Most folks like the reflectors. I didn't. The reflectors will work with just the 2 original screw holes, but the whole assembly might have a small gap in the areas where the extra screw holes need to be drilled out. Just for grins I did this when I 1st got my Shad bags to see how I liked it, and I didn't. Hope that helps. I got my bags and mounts from Sids motorcycle on line.

So what your saying is I can get the non oem bags and use the brp mount and be just fine since I don’t want the red side reflectors? And I won’t have to drill extra holes?

You can use either the Shad SH36 or SH35 bags with the Can-Am mounts. The large reflectors for the SH36 bags came with the BRP mounting brackets when I ordered them. I chose to get the SH35 bags even though they are 1 liter smaller. I just liked the looks of the SH35 better. Either bag will work with the mounts. I ordered the bags from Spain, even with shipping they were much cheaper than what I could find anywhere else.

It was asked a few days ago if the Shad saddlebags come with a cylinder for the likes of Shad 58x top case. The image above was included with my original purchase, so it seems I could have three Shad bags/case, keyed alike.

I bought the brackets from Can Am and the Shad saddlebags from Europe. Shipped to me in Canada and less than 1/2 price than my Can Am dealer, also they are exactly the same ones that Can Am sells.
