• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I see Autozone has. Any idea of $$$?:spyder2:

Previous post here recommended the K&N 33-2006 Filter. I went with that, got it for like $30 bucks on Amazon. Some cite that the filter does not fit exact (being too loose) but in installing it on my Spyder it fit nice and snug. Others also stated that the pleats on the K&N 33-2006 Filter went the opposite direction from the factory filter. I just don't think that matters much so long as the filter does it's job and filtered air can get through.

K&N does not have a filter ONLY for the Spyder...the Green Filter is made for the Spyder...it allows for better airflow as well...Evan can discuss this more...ask about the ping pong test (study!)

Got an E-mail from K&N yesterday with the 9908 part number for all 2009 spyders. Went with the Magic Man green .

This appears to be a brand new K&N Model that was created just for the Spyder. When you check the vehicle compatibility guide it only lists the 2008 and 2009 Can-Am Spyder.

I love my Green filter and apparently the additional pleats and depth of pleats play in...either way, you will dramatically increase airflow and this can only be a good thing!

Already saw one on EBay for $57 and some change with free shipping. Some people waste no time whatsoever posting things for sale.

$47

Ordered a K&N from my dealer for $47... Should be here in a week as it is a brand new item. I've had K&N's in all my vehicles and have always been happy with them.

Wondering what everyone's opnion is concerning "perfromance" air filters. I have used them in some of my cars and trucks but stopped after looking close at a K&N that is presently on my pickup. I just don't see anyway possible for a "performance" air filter to provide as much protection when it's primary goal is to allow more air to enter the engine. I do think that they do enhance performance but at what cost. I have always used syn oil in my cars and trucks and the cars without "performance" air filter seem to have cleaner oil longer. My thinking is that the truck with the performance air filter is allowing more dirt and debris (larger micron size)into the engine and washing off the cyl wall and transfering to the oil. I'm planning to remove the K&N next oil change and return to a stock GM filter.

One way to increase airflow without loss of filtration is to increase the surface area of the filter media, hence the pleats. That is why you rarely see flat filters. I'm certain there are other factors as well.

Green's got more pleats and better airflow...
