• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

K&n filter cleaning interval

Is it really every 50k under normal paved road use?
That's most likely entire length of ownership of spider for most people.
I was leaning toward evoluzione drop in filter because I did not like cleaning and oiling evoluzione race air system every 3000 miles and I thought I would have to do same with k&n drop in but every 50k miles, I think I can handle that. :D

Motorcycle filters would very seldom get clogged unless you road off road or live in the desert ...:ohyea:...

I had raceair system before and Ken at evoluzione recommended that I clean and oil every 3-4000 miles so I followed his instruction. :dontknow:

I used to wash and let filter dry completely before i reoil but I don't have that much time with my spider anymore and after extended time away from home every week, I am not looking forward to" wash and wait" if I have to do a oil change that week when I come home.
With evo's dropin, I can just dust it off and I am done but if k&n can that long in-between cleaning that would work too. I would not wait for full 50k thou...

:agree:

I do mine every oil change --- so every 3,000 miles. Use the spray-on cleaner--- let it air dry overnight---- and then use spray-on oil.

It's best to rinse the filter with water running from the INSIDE to the OUTSIDE--- you don't want to push the dirt and grime further into the foam-- you want it to come out the way it came in....

Usually takes 2 spray and rinse cycles-- and some really ugly water comes out....

I figured I had to the same with k&n but may be not.

I do mine every oil change, but to be honest, it wasn't that dirty this last time... That said I also use a UNI-Filter sleeve over mine, so that probably keeps out more of the crud...

Taking the kewl metal intake top off is a pain to a degree.... I go about 4500 miles before oil changes.

This is the UNI Filter I have over my intake for some added protection.
