Air scoops

I noticed that the air vents located on the upper panel (just in front of the rider position) are pretty much in line with the K&N filter element on the KewlMetal performance air kit. It would be the perfect place for some type of air scoop to deliver cold air to the intake filter. Does anyone know of a product that is available that could do this. If not, it would be a good idea for someone to build. IMHO:f_spider: I'm sure that some air is already delivered through these vents but a air scoop would certainly add to that effect.nojoke

I built a VW dune buggy in the 70's, Put a air scoop on. It took many trips to a drag strip to get it to run right. Most muscle cars in the 60's had non functional air scoops. I open the ones on my 68 Charger [class record 3 long Island strips 1968] killed my times. I plug them up.
Maybe with F.I. It will work?? The only way to know is to run it at a drag strip. Seat of pants is no way to tell if it works.
Just my experience/ Might work on the Spyder??

I cannot help but think that a little cooler air around the air intake would certainly not be a hindrance to performance.:spyder2:

I think mine have helped . I used two marine cowl vents - stainless.

Those Vertika Trykes are pretty darn ugly ! I don't see any top vents on them that would fit....:dontknow:

Marine air vents

Used two marine chrome air vents like Lamont's, get more air and more torque on bottom end, take the rubber twin air intake out of air box, run 3 inch hose from throttle side to bottom of air box,opposite side feeds air to engine.Picture is a little dark but you can see the chrome air ducts or vents.

That looks good Firefly. I was thinking on doing something with the vents that are already in the upper panel, but that may require something custom built. Your approach may be viable. Thanks:

Here's is all I can dig up right now.....

I did the same thing with stainless marine vents planning on the same use... but I had previously run a 3" duct to the front fog light opening for an air intake... now the vents only push a little more air from both sides. Haven't had the urgency to re-route the right side one.

I ditched the entire airbox.

Filter is inside box--- Evoluzione race filter setup. Box I made out of duct and covered with DEI heat shield.
