There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. So How is your Spyder Service

After reading Steve's posts about Spyder Dealers and (nearly) all being bad, It had me wondering how others felt.
I use Hilton Head Motorsports, and I'd give the a B to B-, or a 7 from 1-10. They do get to my :spyder: in a timely manner, and try to do thier best, but none of the techs actually own a Spyder so their learning curve is based on whatever comes in as a problem; They are not actively involved w/ the Spyder and usually I can give them the latest info that I have gotten from this forum. I'd feel much more comfortable knowing there was an enthusiastic Spyder owner working on the Spyders.

For instance, I last week I had my :f_spider: go into limp mode at 75mph on I95 while passing a tractor trailer. Even though BRP stated that they needed to go thru all the codes (8) and NOT replace the GPS, the GPS was replaced as they couldn't duplicate the codes or find anything wrong. So, they did replace the GPS and gave me the :f_spider: and said it was fixed as since the codes didn't show up. I can't wait to get out on I95 again and do 75-80mph to see if they were right:shocked:.

So, how is your service tech???

I would love to see others reply- Maybe compile a list of 4star service techs for those ryding out of their area knowing where to get good service away from home.

I am in total agreement on your grading of their service. They do a good job, but I think they have more of the other brands to work on so they end up spending a lot more time staying current on those.

So, you got your Spyder back yesterday then? I am assuming this is the case. It is supposed to be raining all day today so I am not planning on ryding at all. Once you get it out on 95, try to stay in the right lane for just in case and let us know how things go.

Ryde safe out there. :2thumbs:

My choice of dealer is Lake Norman Powersports just north of Charlotte, and for a number of reasons.

1. They gave me the best deal
2. Family owned like many dealers, but these guys and gals are very down to earth.
3. They only sell BRP so that elevates my expectation that my Spyder is in capable hands.
4. They became a Givi dealer in order to cement the deal with me.

My only two complaints are simple and not show stoppers by any means.

1. They didn't have the crush rings and O ring is stock for me to purchase for an oil change. (Matthews Fun Machines didn't have them either)
2. When I got my Spyder back this last service, the panels were not back on just right. Tabs were showing here and there. Easy enough for me to correct, and I'll be taking it apart again this week anyway, so not a big deal. I think they were pretty stacked for service work, and they needed to get mine back together in a hurry to send me home... so no biggy as long as it doesn't become the norm.

I haven't had any true major repairs. The only real service items I've had were a coolant leak due to loose clamps, and a bad oil sending unit.

Until otherwise, I trust my dealer with all my service due to my experience so far and due to the fact that they are a BRP only dealer.

If you have a large lake nearby, I suggest you find if there is a SeaDoo/Can Am dealer that also sells the Spyder. I think your experience might be better. I drive/ride 30 miles to Lake Norman Powersports when the closest dealer to me is 1.5 miles from my house. Now, I have heard good things about the closer dealer's service as well, but I like the ride up to Lake Norman, and so far I'm not going to change what is working for me.

Just my 2 cents.

My ride is about 80 miles. I may be able to find a dealer in the same range in the opposite direction, but definitely none closer than that.

Our Spyder dealer is also our snowmobile (Ski doo) and trailer dealer. You can trust them if they say a part is gone, they will work with you on the price, they will get it if it's not in their facility (parts or other items). They are family owned and their repairs are timely. Dasilvas, Hampstead & Moultonborough NH. Most of our business is with Paul in Hampstead. An A dealer in service, sales, parts & repairs. We've been with them for about 9 years. :2thumbs:

Leo's South in Lakeville (south of Minneapolis), MN - 8-10 on service, timing, knowledge, etc. :firstplace: Also top Spyder dealer in MN for sales volume. VERY pleased and happy customer!!

West Coast Powersport in Clearwater, FL: perfect 10.

How many times you need the Sales part from a dealer? Only to buy/sell/trade-in. For everything else is Service and Mechanics, to trust your life in their work. nojoke

The mechanics at Greater Vancouver Powersports in Surrey seem capable enough, most delays have been caused by slow parts deliveries. In BC, you require a motorcycle licence to operate a Spyder on the road, and the person there that had one recently took a job somewhere else. Dont know who is doing the test rides now, hope it's not me! Overall, the service department are a cheerfull, helpfull group and I would rate them at least 8 out of ten.

The guy that works on my Spyder is pretty good, seems to know what he's doing most of the time. ;)

You must pay a pretty penny for him to be able to afford to work in a fur coat / uniform. That looks like the real stuff too, not those fake furs. :D

I live 1/8 of a mile from Coleman Power SPorts in Woodbridge, VA. So, you know what I do? I drive 35 miles down to Fredericksburg Motor Sports because Coleman's is full of arrogant, rip off artists. They actually quoted me $340 for my 3k mile maintenance. Their excuse was they are a premier nationally recognized top end dealer. They also include additional services their team deem neccessary over and above the Can-Am recommended maintenance as a testament to their excellence. blah...blah....blah... OK, that doesn't sound so bad. Well it is bad when you consider they could not explain or even begin to remotely articulate the "additional services" they were just siting the oil change and the 6 points to check from the maintenance manual and were really annoyed (hostile) when I pointed that out. Nor do they seem to know anything about the spyder and I talked to several staff including mechanics there. Not only that but they were rude, actually mocked me at one point, and were completely defensive when I asked basic questions about their establishment. My only regret is I spent about $800 there on gear before i realized how bad they were. I hate giving my money to people whom are consumer parasites. They can only see spyders on Wednesday and can not gurantee it will be seen or take an appointment.
Needless to say i buy all my gear online now. WHen i do need service i go to Fredericksburg Motor Sports. They do seem to know a lot more and don't mind customers with questions. They charged me $180 for the same 3k mile service. They are super freindly in a good ol boy kind of way. I give them a 8 out of ten. They take walk-ins on Saturday which work wonderful for me and are timely in the work.

Now on the other hand BRP is completely horrible for part delivery. Every issue I have had to date required extensive unplanned waits for parts from BRP. BRP has a horrible supply chain and are undeserving of the title manufacturer. Some of these guys working out of their garages selling parts on this site are 10x more competent when it comes to orders and shipping. After backordering my DPS and waiting 12 days, dealer installed the day it arrived to find BRP had just sent them the original "out-of-circulation DPS" that was my issue in the first place. I have been waiting now for 23 days (4 beautiful weekends) for the proper DPS unit from BRP. Did i say BRP was horrible? Man BRP really suks in a big way. :cus: The customer service is equally horrible and phone system is amateurish. If the agents are busy the system actually tells you to call back later and hangs up. Then when you finally get through after many tries, they can not do anything for you. I just wanted them to overnight the second shipment after making me wait and then screwing up the first. Hell they could not even give me a status on the shipment. I will never recommend this bike to anyone based solely on my experience with the manufacturer and their weak relations with dealers, horrible shipping, poor quality control, and useless customer service. I may sound a little bitter, forgive me.

I am in northern NH and I am very satisfied dealing with Chuck Dasilva -- and the service from his staff in Moultonborough NH. I have heard good things about his brother in Hampstead as well.

Even before this thread I have been thinking of changing who I go to for service. DaSilva Motosports in Hampstead simply sees more Spyders than the dealer I've been using. I've stopped in to talk to Paul DaSilva recently too.

It seems people are please with them. I know tatt2r and Dee take their Spyders there too.

I just think with the Spyders being so new that it's probably best to go with who has the most experience. Service is expensive no matter where you go. So I don't think that matters that much. Anyway, it's good to see people being satisfied with the service in the two DaSilva dealerships. This is reinforcing my decision to change over to them.

edit to add: I bought used, not new from either dealer

I live in Omaha, I bought my :spyder2: used before they were a dealer of the :spyder2: everytime I go there, they treat me like I bought it there. GOOD SERVICE and open Sat. Hope they sell more :spyder2::2thumbs:

Progressive Motorsports

My Dealer has been a BRP snowmobile dealer for years and also oval raced their sleds.

Karen and her crew get a big :2thumbs: from me!

They also just happen to be the closest dealer to Americaid in Lake George.

I'll bet they could double the amount of work they could put out if they could get some of those mechanics in the natural fur coats like Lamonsters (no need for heated shop space)!:joke:

Our dealer in Wisconsin was Donahue Super Sports, which is a family owned business. I had my 600 and 6k mile service done there. I made an appointment and they got to my spyder when they said they would, and they were reasonably priced. When the oil sending unit leaked I trailered the spyder there and Troy, the macanic stopped what he was doing and went after my spyder. Took him about 10 minutes to find the problem. He took the oil sending unit out of their demo so I could get back on the road. No charge as it was under the warranty.

We are now in Florida and Motorsports of Tampa will be our dealer. I asked for a estimate on the 12k mile service. they told me $1200.00 and would need the spyder two days. To me that is unacceptable both in time and $.
