America means many different things to many different people. Welcome to the USA.

We have all the family and some friends together for a large picnic type cookout.

This is just one of several celebratory days we hunker down, stay off the roads and try to avoid getting shot or having our house catch on fire from illegal fireworks.

There's plenty of other opportunities to gather with family and friends where doing so doesn't contribute to the craziness.

Since it is Sunday, I'll be in Church giving thanks for this country. In the afternoon I'll be up at my daughter's house with whoever of the rest of the kids/grandkids show up for an impromptu get together.

Cooking under the shelter of my shop. Some of the extended family coming over. Got a few fireworks and plenty of food. Got rain in the forecast and probably have to stay inside, but got a large shop and plenty of shelters.

Drove Hwy 244 by Mt. Rushmore today, lots of traffic and lots of American flags. It was nice to see that there are some people left that don’t hate this country and that there is some patriotism still to be found.

I don't think we are going to suffer a shortage of 'patriotism' anytime soon. It doesn't take much effort to show patriotism.. With few exceptions, EVERY American will declare themselves as 'patriotic', I think.

Why do YOU think patriotism is an endangered sentiment? What is your measure of another person's patriotism?
