• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Right foot gets hot - okay to block off?

I see Lamonster sells the block off plate for the right radiator vent. Is there an issue with over heating in hot weather? Texas summers are brutal and do not want to overheat. But, would be nice to have a cooler foot.

This is for a 2013 RTL.

It is certainly OK to fit that 'block off' plate, many of us have done that; and it's even OK to put a few 2" or so dia holes in the placcy tray underneath the Spyder just there to allow a bit more of the 'pre-heated air' to be diverted down & out underneath the Spyder.

But most importantly, you should make sure that your 2013 RTL has the 'Heat Mitigation Recall' work done, including the removal of the 'heat trapping' acoustic panels under the upper tupperware and the installation of the large (usually black) air intake pods under the mirrors!! If you STILL have the clear placcy 'wing' type air deflectors under the mirrors, instead of the large air intake pods, then your Spyder probably hasn't had the mandated 'Heat Mitigation Recall' work done and so should have it done ASAP, or sooner if possible!

And you should also make a practice of wearing long trousers (motorcycle jeans?! ) & protective boots/shoes that cover & support your ankles so that you don't feel any heat so much & that even if the heat pumped outta that gaping maw does get extremely hot, it shouldn't burn your foot or leg badly! There were a few who copped some pretty severe burns back before the recall, but at least some of them had been ryding in shorts with their naked leg exposed to the inferno escaping from that gaping maw of an outlet! :yikes:

Over to you! Good Luck.

Yes, it has the recall vents installed below the mirrors. I do where long pants and boots but the heat can still cook my foot. In winter I wear the Kevlar pants...a little too warm in 100+ degree summer weather. I’ve never been truly burned (like others have), but can feel the heat wearing pants and boots, especially in stop and go traffic.

Thanks.

Yes it is ok to block the "Gaping Maw". (Thanks Peter for the new addition to my vocabulary)I did it on my 2012RT and it has never hurt anything yet.

I took the bottom panel underneath right off all together on that side, it helped some!!
