• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Should BRP feel slighted?

I will get the Streetglide trike if they can't fix my Spyder.

But I'm hoping to keep my Spyder - I like the two wheels in front thing better but if it's not gonna be reliable, then Im' getting rid of it.

Edit to add: BUT if they can make my Spyder where I'm not scared of it, I will keep it till it's paid off and then get the RT next :)

So why go with a trike? I personally don't think a traditional trike is much (if any) safer than being on 2 wheels.

If I didn't have a Spyder - I would have opted for 2 wheels --- and it would have been something by Honda.

No data to prove that one way or the other....

I agree that if you still have no issues (mental, physical or promise to wife:D) to ride 2 wheels, you should do it.

I'd say the Harley has a certain amount of novelty value (as does the Spyder).

But I'm with you. Nothing against Harley (though I've never owned one). But for all the reasons to get 3 wheels, I think the Spyder is a much better design.

Some are having reliabilty issues and I understand that. But for the majority of us who are not having problems that turn us off I think the Harley is less desirable.

HDs have a long history of problems...they are not any better than a Spyder...if you want a reliable bike, get a metric...

I would generally agree that something like a Honda will outperform and have less problems than a Harley - but most people with new ones that I know really like them and don't seem to have many problems. I think much of their bad rep came from the AMF days---- ugggggg. I still can't get over them not moving into water cooled engines other than the ugly V-rod.

I've never been a HD fan. The whole culture of it is a big turnoff for me. I guess part of the reason in buying a Spyder was to be DIFFERENT -- whereas every tom, dick and harry owns HD stuff --- and when you see a parking lot full of HD's --- they all basically look the same - as does the gear, etc. Black and leather - no thanks.

HD is excellent at marketing-- so much so that selling bikes really doesn't matter. HD makes more money from T-shirt sales than ALL other HD products combined.

To each his own--- but I'd be on a Honda if it wasn't the Spyder.

Well I have neck problems to the point where sometimes my arms go totally numb. I've got spinal stenosis with disk degeneration and bone spurs. It doesn't hurt like it used to but it always worried me and HDX when I would ride and couldn't feel the bars. At least doing it on three wheels to me is less aggravating. I feel safer on 3 wheels. It was really hard doing slow speed manuvers on my softail after a while. I learned what I could but I really believe Harley hasn't made a man's bike fit for a women (unless the woman is a rather large & tall woman). If I were to go 2 wheels again, it would be a BMW sport touring - lowered. But I'm still nervous about 2 wheels - been a while since I've ridden two wheels now.

Ahh--- I see. Bummer on the back stuff---- my brother has all kinds of spurs and scars from surgeries--- and even his surgeon says STAY AWAY FROM SURGEONS!

BMW's rock too !

To me, until I could afford some fancy paint job, all spyders look the same. I noticed that at the BBQ - everything was either yellow, Red or Silver - not many different colors.

Yep - no surgeons - Never!!! - I just eat painkillers (like candy sometimes ... another reason for 3 wheels) :2thumbs: No seriously I don't ride all messed up like that.

Yeah-- but any time you are in a parking lot at a bike show--- the Spyder stands out--- and this will be the case for many years since they will never have the numbers that HD or Honda does......

I have had way more Harley riders talking to me about the Spyder and admiring it than any other type of riders. Some of the sport bike group wanted to know all about it as well, but the Harley riders seemed pretty hardcore with trying to figure out what the Spyder is all about.

I also bought mine because of medical issues, and I too have always liked to be different. :)
