• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

This month's Rider magazine has the new RT in a full page ad on page 3. It also reports on the HD Tri Glide as "the first factory produced trike on the market". I guess the Spyder is technically a reverse trike, so the description of the HD may be accurate. I don't think BRP has ever described the Spyder as a trike, but uses the term three wheeled roadster.

And isn't the Tri-Glide actually a partnership with Lehman?
 
Nope.

I realize I'm being {some adjective} but I really dislike when people refer to my :spyder: as a trike. :gaah: In my mind, trikes conjure up an image of a lazy-boy recliner on wheels (PLEASE, NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE w/a TRIKE, it's just not my taste.)

What I ride is a cross between a motorcycle and a sport car :clap:

So, I'm okay differentiating the :spyder: from a trike :2thumbs:
 
You can't "trike" a Spyder - you need a special class to ride one here & get insurance, not so with the Spyder...

The Spyder is a SAV - - sports activity vehicle .....
 
As described during the last bike show, the Spyder is a bassackward trike.
Then the announcer went on to say he has one too.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
 
I beleive they got it wrong. The honor goes to Harley, but I beleive for the 45ci Service-Car that they were building in the 40's, may have been before. Daddy had a 48 -45ci Bike with the foot clutch and sucide shift, 3-speed trans.

Now, now, that approach is not needed. I care if BRP is slighted...I love my Spyder and although there are some hiccups, I believe the company cares about us and their product. If you don't believe that, by all means get a different vehicle.

Most people with Spyders are happy with their purchase...probably the only complainers are here on this forum.

No product is perfect and these vehicles were only put on the market last year (2008)...there are going to be quirks...get over it. As long as BRP works towards solutions, which they do, we shouldn't jump all over them.

I think working together to find solutions and informing BRP is a better way to go than ripping on them for whatever reason. If some think the Spyder is a POS, then sell it and get something else...

Lamont has built this site for exchange of ideas about how to enjoy and enhance the ride of the Spyder...sure, we can be real and discuss the short-comings, but until any of you can make a better vehicle...well, you get the idea.

This board used to be quite differerent some time ago...it'd be nice to see it go back to its roots...a great place for people to come and meet others with a similar hobby/ride....a place to compare performance, mods, etc...

I quite agree...your points are well taken. Despite that, it doesn't hurt to remind Quebec that their loyal Spyder fans are watching and waiting...and we have limits to our patience.:chat:

I do (and that makes 2)... But in this case I don't think it's a big deal. I do not consider my Spyder a Trike or even a backwards Trike.

If anything, a trike is backwards as 2 wheels in front is a much superior design. Just because that configuration has been around longer doesn't mean it's the way to go.

The only thing a Spyder shares with a trike is 3 wheels. That is where the comparrison ends in every respect. So in my mind, if they're awarding something to a trike then my Spyder is out of the picture.

No disrespect taken on this one.

I looked at a Tri-Glide the other day while at my local HD shop---- looks like it's missing stuff on the back.

As far as the comparison to the Spyder -- hands down --- totally different machines. I doubt most of us out here would have bought a traditional trike.

I also wouldn't even think of taking one on the Dragon--- even WITH the possible Spyder steering issue!

I prefer riding to watching and waiting. If it's going to break then it's going to break. Gives me something to fix when the weather is bad and I can't ride anyway! :ohyea:

So far my Spyder has been 90% fun and 10% even MORE fun! :thumbup:

Actually, the Harley Servicar was manufactured from 1932 to 1973, and the Indian Dispatch Tow was made from 1934 to 1953. Guess they meant currently on the market.
 
It is not considered a trike in South Carolina either, to the point that you don't even need a motorcycle endorsement on your license to ride one anymore. You used to need a regular drivers license, motorcycle endorsement, and a 3 wheeled vehicle endorsement.

I also think the Spyder is much more fun and sporty than any trike, and admit that I would have never bought a standard trike either.
