Can't get left mirror to snap back in at bottom front?

Any ideas? The top slides and catches, the bottom rear snaps, but not the bottom front.

see if the wires of the clip are bent, if they are replace the clip.

:agree: .... even if it's perfect that end is usually the one that folks can't get on. ..... think about getting a set of RT mirror magnets, and use the safety cord - you just never know ..... Mike :thumbup:

Honesly, I'd suggests buying a set of LaMonsters Magic Mirror attachments. It uses some super magnets and you can avoid those hassles.

I've been using the OEM mirror clips on my Spyder for 67K+ miles and have never had a problem with the mirrors being firmly anchored to the bike. Why? The first reason I firmly believe is I learned right off the bat how to properly remove and reinstall them. Shawn Smoak's videos on doing a 1330 engine oil change show how it's done. Second, each time I remove a mirror I check the springs and if they are bowed I straighten them. I also keep a couple of spares readily at hand but have had to use one only once when a dealership bunged up one of the original ones so badly I had to chuck it. At the same time I also clean the springs with some 4-aught steel wool because they will accumulate come corruption on then due to weather exposure. Lastly, before reinstalling a mirror I clean the studs and wipe a very, very thin film of white lithium grease on the head, and I mean only the head, of the studs. You don't want to use so much that a spring can carry any grease into the groove of the stud that holds the spring snug.

If you buy the Magic Mirrors, you won't have to deal with all that extra stuff. It is MAINTENANCE-FREE. Screw them on and you're done for the life of the bike.

Sure it's $100, but isn't the time you save doing all the crap with the springs, studs, grease, etc., etc. worth it ????

Plus, even with stiff springs, there's a little bit of play resulting in slight blurriness when you look to see what's behind you. The MM virtually eliminates that play, resulting in clearer images.

That, to me, is worth it.

And here's my philosophy in why the MM are an important and ingenious mod:

Anytime you bang those things to get them off, you're doing a disservice to those turn signal bulbs in the mirrors. I'm betting that the MM lengthens the life of those bulbs. Plus, there's something not quite right about hitting your bike with such force. One of these days, it's not gonna like it and will leave you stranded on the road.

So treat your bike right. Get those MM, save time and energy trying to fix those damn springs. Unless you really enjoy dicking around with them and making them straight again over and over and over, then ignore my advice.

IMHO, the MM should be THE first mod you install on an RT. It just makes your life that much easier.

I have Magic Mirrors also, but before I got them I put a washer under the post that was hard to snap into place and that made it much easier.

A spritz of WD40. Goes right on. I do them all the time. Magic mirrors are cool. The stock clips work fine.
